Notes: Maybeck's '70 Camaro was built by Rollie Lindblad. It was light, weighing just 1,970 lbs. It used a Detroit Locker rear end with 4.10 gears. He continued to run the Chevy engine with displacements between 454 to 500 cubic inch The first time out with the new car, he ran 7.32/195. That was also the best time he had ever run in his final car. The article in the May '71 Rodder & Super Stock magazine claimed that he made several runs in the 200 to 205 mph area. | Also ran 7.41 at NY National. | Best known NHRA speed was 178.00. |

Notes: McCahill was at OCIR for its Grand Premiere race in January. Eight cars were there, and all were to make two passes, with the two Low ET cars meeting in the final. In Billy's first race, he got out of shape and crossed the centerline in his race against Tom McEwen. In his second race, he had issues and shut down, losing to Jim Dunn's ten-second pass. McCahill did not reach the final. | When McCahill red-lighted at the Grand Premier, McEwen went off and on the throttle to avoid the wreck. It was something to see at night, from the r/h fence off the starting line. (McCahill's lane). No-show at the Winternationals following an ND announcement. Swept-back headers and exhaust fire. - Joe Moore | Video link shows the car at AHRA Tucson 1983. |

Notes: McCahill was in Tucson in the middle of January for the AHRA Winternationals. His 6.41 qualified #5 in the eight-car field. Unfortunately, that set up a first-round showdown with low qualifier Don Prudhomme. Billy got out of shape and crossed the centerline while eventual winner Prudhomme advanced. Billy was at Carlsbad in March for an eight-car show. In the first round, his 6.36/220.52 (Top Speed) beat Sherm Gunn's 6.38. He got the "odd-lot" solo in the semi-final and made an easy pass. In the final, he faced Henry Harrison, and McCahill smoked the tires and shut down, losing to Harrison's 6.78. 1700 lb. match racer. | Yep. 3/4 Steve Quercio/Carlsbad match race advertised earlier in ND with a Pomona picture of the LA Hooker Omni. Force actually drove the Hooker at this event, partially primered from a guard rail at Pomona. McCahill went from KW-semi rig to ramp truck, but made it work. - Joe Moore |

Notes: Tony debuted at Houston in October 1988. He qualified at the Supernationals with a 5.535/253.02 but lost to Mike Dunn in round one, 5.59/241 to 5.818/166.82. That was his only NHRA national event in 1988, but he had a successful 1989 season. Tony died in a car crash a couple of years later. Photo from Columbus 1989. |

Notes: Tony had a great NHRA season, qualifying nearly everywhere and running some stout numbers. He drove a Thunderbird through Columbus, where a blower explosion destroyed that body. Was the Daytona just a new body? It probably debuted at Englishtown, where Tony qualified with a 5.429/243.27 and lost to Don Prudhomme in round one. | At the IHRA Loctite Nationwise World Nationals in Norwalk, McCallum qualified #4 for the 8 car field with a 5.568/238.73 & Faced #5 qualifier Doc Halladay in Round 1 where McCallum would lose. | Tony died in a car crash (later this year?) Notes: Set Deer Park speed record at 192.60. Ed ran Seattle's first seven-second run in a Funny Car on April 27 at a Funny Car vs. AA/GD race. He beat Don Cope's 7.90/187.50 with a 7.99 in his first race. He lost all three of his next races to the Dragsters with runs of 8.42/161.29, 8.27/174.08, and a final 8.52/156.34 that lost to Dave Grassi's 7.60/197.36. On July 19, he faced Kip Brundage in a best two out of three match race at Firebird Raceway in Idaho. He won the first race with an 8.32/178, but Kip returned to win the second race with an 8.02/182 over Ed's 8.12/178.94. Ed reset both ends of the track record in the tie-breaker with a 7.92/191.17 to win the match. - Ron Howard |

Notes: This was the Jerry Ruth Camaro, too. This car also had a long history. After Schroeder ran it in 68, it went to Art Whipple in 69, McCulloch's first FC. Then in 1970, Jerry Ruth bought it, and Frank Hall drove it. Then in 71, Harlan Thompson bought it, crashed it. Dennis Doubleday |
