Notes: Car featured injected 354 Chrysler with antiquated Hillborns. Car ran against blown cars as blown and injected nitro burners weren't separated at the time. car won at least one open altered event, beating out several blown cars. The car was sold in early 1969, and resurfaced with Chevy power under the team of Cox, Ford. Also I noted absence of an injected B/FA owned by Arizona racer Ty Pollack. Car featured the same look at Pure Hell, but was powered by bored, stroked injected 327. Beautiful show car that ran high 8's. Pollack took so long to build the car, that when it was finished, the NHRA had eliminated the class, leaving him to race only AHRA tracks. |

Notes: These times came from a Drag Racing USA article on the team. - Danny White | Mikio ran 7.29 on the run where Tim Marshall took the famous photo of the sparks coming out of the header. We need to confirm that year. | Mikio won the event at which Harry Burkholder set the AA/FA record at 7.06 with a 7.12 to 7.10 holeshot in the final round. |

Notes: Achs qualified on the "bump" for the eight-car field at the NHRA Grandnationals with a 6.869 (speed unknown). In the opening round, the car would not start against Leroy Goldstein, driving the "Candies & Hughes" Cuda. That was Kenny's only NHRA National event appearance of the year. |

Notes: If Adams raced this car in '68, it likely wasn't for very long. Newspaper accounts show he was match racing his new 1968 Camaro in late April. And in Wisconsin the race season usually doesn't push much before April Fool’s Day. - RT |

Notes: Adolph was at OCIR near the end of March for its final All-Pro race. It was a sixteen-car field, and he failed to qualify. He got in as an alternate, and his 8.03/177.16 beat Vic Morse in round one. In the second round, the car lost reverse after he did his burnout. Eventual winner Dave Beebe soloed for the win. Jim was back at OCIR for an eight-car show on April 18. He failed to qualify but got into the show when another car broke. The Firebird came to the line ailing in the first round, and could only run 15.25 in a loss to Beebe's 7.50. He was back at OCIR on May 2 for the Big Four Championships. In the first round, he broke and advanced Mike Van Sant. |

Notes: Jim was in Seattle for the NHRA Fallnationals. Only 15 cars showed for the sixteen-car field, so qualifying wasn't much of an issue. Adolph's 7.32 qualified #13, and he beat Ed McCulloch in the first round before losing in a tire-smoking battle with Billy Meyer that saw Meyer's 6.56 beat his 6.82. He also competed at Irwindale's last drag race. It was a 32-car field, and in the opening round, his 7.29 lost to Don Prudhomme's 6.33. He ran 6.205/231.36 at Ontario for his best NHRA national event times. He made it to the semis there before losing to Don Prudhomme. |
