Notes: Debuted the 1969 blown Logghe Nova at Detroit Dragway and set the track mph record at 197 (with a 427 Chevy motor). Two weeks later the car went end over end at Englishtown and the Army decided I should crew chief a M1A1 tank instead of race cars. End of story. - Dick Abbott |

Notes: Late hemi, TorqueFlite combo. This car, with an early hemi, was originally built and raced by Brad Anderson of Colorado. A feature on the Dart in the 11/70 issue of Rodder & Super/Stock said Bush sometimes ran fuel so was able to race as a Gasser or fuel funny car. - RT | Yes, this is true. Here's a shot of him racing Kalitta at Sears Point. These stat upgrades are from that race, late in 1969. - DD |

He was at Maple Grove in May for an eight-car show. In the opening round of eliminations, his 7.43/197.36 beat Pee Wee Wallace's quicker 7.39/195. Phil Castronovo's car broke against him in the semifinal, and Bob ran 7.30/201.34 (Top Speed) to advance. He faced the strong running, Chevy-powered Camaro of Charlie Therwhanger in the final. Bob had problems and slowed to 7.54/165.74 in a runner-up finish to Charlie's 7.09/191. Bob was at Maple Grove on June 26 for the NHRA Division 1 race. In the first round, he beat Wayne Oxner with a 7.52/191.08 but lost Phil Castronovo in the semifinals. In July, he was at Budds Creek for the Funny Car Nationals. Terry Hedrick got out of shape against him in the first round, and Bob advanced with an 8.20, but in round two, he had handling troubles and lost to Lew Arrington. He also ran 7.12 at Suffolk this year. | Cain ran 206.16 at Suffolk 7/17/71 (Drag News). He ran 6.98 at West Salem 8/28/71 (Drag News). - Dennis Doubleday |
