Re: Spark Plugs ?

I got the Enderle on top of my 540. 15:1 CR, CFE heads 385 cc intakes, .800/.730 lifts on I&E. I run the Champion race plugs. Stock number 792 which is the C59YC plug. I go through one set a season. And yes run a smaller gap with the 7AL-2. Good looking machine. Have fun with it.

Re: Tunnel Ram Injected to Blown Alcohol Conversion

Perry, an update. I rebuilt my injector motor to race this season. I am completely making a new engine for the blower motor. Tall deck Dart Big M to get a 6.700 connecting rod in there, 10:1 CR, going with the Supercharger USA stage 4 8-71 unit. 540 CID. Still deciding on the rods. Callies just came...

Re: Balancing Act

Hey Bill, I did weigh all the pistons that were removed and the new ones I went ahead and installed. All the new ones were within 0.23 grams of each other. The old set had a little more spread to them by 0.67 gm. The difference between the old set and the new set per each piston was greatest at 10.6...

Re: Tunnel Ram Injected to Blown Alcohol Conversion

Green, After much consideration I have in fact decided to go with a tall deck block and use a longer rod in the 6.700" range. I figure I would not need a larger blower with an already large displacement. My goal is to have this engine last a long time. Leon, I had planned on 11:1 CR for the exa...

Balancing Act

I have been running my 540 BBC methanol injected engine so long that it has been honed for new sets of rings 3 times since 1998 from the original build. Since then the engine started to feel a resistance to being able to spin above 8000 rpm so I settled from dropping the shift points for a while. Fi...

Re: The Night Shift... Continues!

Do you know how long it took me to read up to this point? LOL It's been a while. Last time I yapped at ya I told you I visited Kemah and saw how well they have rebuilt from Ike. Glad to see you are still playing. I have been caught up in work and the end of the year is always cumbersome. Racing seas...

Re: Methanol and Oil Changes

I have done this a couple of times with my oil. It works as long as you don't heat the oil up too much. I borrowed a small heat exchanger from work and circulated the oil through it. I had pressurized hot water on the shell side that I could get as hot as 250 degF. It only took about 30 minutes for ...

Re: Tunnel Ram Injected to Blown Alcohol Conversion

Hey Perry, Looks like I bit a pretty good piece of a project. Be careful in the future for all that choose a 0.400" longer rod for a short deck BBC engine. My 540 is going to have to have a short 1.120 compression height but I can get away with it because of running methanol, I can have as much...
