Re: Neil Armstrong

Indeed. The man was a true pioneer displaying a level of courage and confidence that exceeds all of the pro-athletes so many folks place atop a pedestal today. Long before computers, he had but his own wits and a slide rule to guide him. There was no margin for error in the environment he found hims...

Big Willy Robinson RIP

Big Willy Robinson, who with his late wife Tomika, spear headed the Brotherhood of Street Racers just passed away. Though I never met him, nor attended any of those events affiliated with him, I found him to be a postive force in the world of automotive sport and car culture. He gained prominence in...

Re: I.D. on 1968 Frank Huszar dragster

In veiwing the car it might be either Bob Williams or Penho and Pellor. Go ahead and post the picture as it will no doubt incite some commentary.

Re: I.D. on 1968 Frank Huszar dragster

Below is Roger gates response to my inquiry. And I quote: "If it was the car that Phil had it was basically a California Chasis Eng. car that we built at Don's shop (Tuttle - Daves dad). The car was painted somewhat like the Beebe & Mulligan T/F car by Phil & his partner @ Carters shop....

Dennis Geisler RIP

Dennis Geisler, long known for his string of AA/FA's and regionally comeptetive AA/FC's passed away the other day. I saw all his cars run at one time of another. The Instant T of Graf and Geisler put him on the map, followed up by a bunch of low buck, but hard running floppers. The most famous of wh...

Re: I.D. on 1968 Frank Huszar dragster

Hmm, might the chassis appear to have once been designed to house a SBC? There was a junior gas dragster that bared that description that emanated from San Fernando. It was raced by a guy named Phil Coonce. He bought it from Roger Gates. I have made efforts of inquiry to them and/or freinds to verif...

Monkey Davey Jones RIP

Lead singer for the 60's pop group died from an apparent heart attack. I have no further to add. He and the rest of the group provided some fun music in the mid 60's. As a 10 year old, I -ilke so many others of that age group-relished the thought of being the "Fifth Monkey."

Whitney Houston RIP

The diva of the 80's died last night I beleive. None of the particulars surrounding her passing have been made known yet. Though common sense tells us that her long time addictions might well be the culprit.

Fuel Altered racer Mike Robertson RIP

Former A/FA stalwart Mike Robertson passed away yesterday. In his day he fielded one of the fastest unblown altereds ever with a combination most considered inadaquate=SBC and an automatic transmission. His car was even featured in HRM in 1970. Mike continued on for years helping other nitro teams a...

For years, the man's photogrpahs served as my morning respite along with a hot cup of Joe. I had the pleasure of speaking with him via PM about the pictures and historical minutae that accompanied them. I am saddend by his passing and not making his accquaintance in person. But he is no longer suffe...
