Wonder Woman & Bionic Bunny Burkett

Postby Jack Redd » Wed Mar 25, 2009 5:25 am

It was great seeing "Bionic" Bunny again at MIR last October. I have been trying to contact her, but to no avail to bring this up-to-date. She has been in the hospital again this winter. It is going to be an add-on later because of her latest ordeal.
I first met Bunny back in the mid '60's when I was Editor of Drag Times. I purchase all of my office supplies from Southern Office Supply where she worked as a bookkeeper.
She later became a drag racer in the stock class and then moving into the Pro Stock ranks into the "Miss Universe of Drag Racing Circuit" of Tom "Smoker" Smith's. Then the big move to funny cars.
Not only being named "Bionic", she is also a "Wonder Woman".
Let us start with the '95 crash at Beaver Springs Dragway in a race against Carl Ruth. Carl crossed over into her lane sending Bunny on wild crash. She died (3) times on the way to the hospital. GOD kept telling her it was not her time.
She had a broken back (2 metal rods inserted), ribs, ankles, wrists, torn ligaments in all of her fingers, convulsions "dark roots", just to name a few of her injuries.
Since then, she has had a double masectomy, total hysterectomy, broken right hip and leg, a cracked pelvis bone and a replaced right hip. Not only a "Bionic Bunny" but a "Wonder Woman" too. Can she still do the "Bunny Hop"? Slowly! We will keep you in our prayers.
GOD BLESS you "Bunny" & crew. Keep them "Bear's" tamed & Dennis too!
May GOD Bless the USA & YOU!

JA said: [Yes, RH it was a Stone's Store stop included, but that "Beer Lady" at the track got my attention a few times along with Dave's brother Erik with the cooler. ]

Jack,If you'd just go there and plop down a million six you could have that place! Hell, you've already got a pretty hefty investment there I reckon

Moved this to a new post as requested.

The posts have a letter limit on the titles, so I had to remove the quotes to get Bunny's full last name in there.

Sorry about not relating your award at Larson's. Once I get back and hit the work week, it's all over for me. bp

I'm really sorry to hear that Bunny has more medical problems. She is a sweetheart and has been through so much.

These shots bring back some memories and the fun I had talking to Bunny and Moe and hearing Moe's stories. He told me that he didn't know anything about tuning carbs so, if a plug looked like it was rich or lean, he changed the heat range. He said "Hell, I could three or four different heat range plugs in there at any given time."

JA Bill, Sorry, I did not word it right. I meant you did not mention any thing about me getting an award there on the way up to Larson's.
What has 88 keys and no locks? (answer below)
How many 8's would you write down counting from 1 to 100? 20,11,21,10
