Found Rapid Randy 1995!

Postby draglist » Sun Nov 15, 2009 9:54 pm

I was editing the drag lists tonight and I found a 1995 Pro Street entry for a "Randy Barker" who drove the Randy and Laura Barker 61 Corvette! How about that? Had Rapid Randy on the lists for 14 years and never knew it! bp

That is COOL, BP! Looks like Rapid was Rapid before we knew him as Rapid! That's a great Vette, too...I hope to see it next time I'm up there! Cheers, WC1

I put in some updates. Now I am looking for a photo for that version. That was the first of three versions of the Vette. :D

It started life with a 512 2-stages of Nitrous BBC with a Turbo 350. It was Blue with graphics.

The 2nd version was only on it for 1-summer. It was Rasberry with graphics. I loved the color but only in the daytime. At night, when we were cruising alot, the darn thing just looked maroon. In the daytime is sparkled and you could see all the pearl. It was at this update it got the Lenco and I went back to Carbs in process of running it in the fastest street car shoot out stuff. Back in those days it had to run on gas, and you had to drive it 25-miles then make a lap.

The 3rd version is the one you are all familiar with. Purple with cloud graphics. 1471 Blower and Lenco etc.

I hadn't thought about the car as blue or rasberry for a long time.

Laura spent long hours in the garage with me building our toy. She used to drive it all the time before I put the Blower motor in. 8)
