Who drove the Captain America Altered in 1973? Sorry for the crappy pictures but I found these in a forgotten place and scanned them last night. Brings back some old memories. I was a spectator only.

Great shot. Can you tell us where this was? Looks like Don on the back of the car... we have a few Don's in the AA/FA ranks. bp

I can't believe The Draglist crew is stumped.

All I remember is that I took the pictures, a lot of cold beer was consumed, we tent camped overnight on the median of the highway next to the track along with many other campers. There was a BBC powered RED in the final (he broke at the line), against I don't know who. Bill Jenkins was my hero at the time.

We have our contacts looking into it! The Chevy Top Fueler at Gainesville 1973 was Jim Bucher... he set the world record that weekend with a 6.07. Don Garlits went quicker at 6.05, but did not back it up... bp

Thanks, BP, I've been told it was Bucher, but forgot. I don't remember for sure, but I don't think Garlits was in the final with him. Is that correct? Who was it?
