You are so correct about his dedication. He works his butt off at the Nats as well as all of the guys that make up his group
on a show that is about as close as it comes to back in the day. Solid Rock does one nasty burnout after another
and is doing it on a shoe string budget compared to some of the others. I have seen some heart warming things take
place in Rock's pit with the children and fans that I will never forget. I see a smile from him when the kids show up
that makes him 30 years younger. Him and another Chicago funny car guy do seminars at schools throughout the year
to encourage the young men and ladies to stay in school and further their education. What a mentor for all of us.
Then I have to deal with that crazy Bandit guy who brings tears of laughter to my eyes. Gorilli like Bandit. Sharon
said she will miss passing out hugs to all those guys if we don't get the Funny Nats back on the schedule. We would love
to have Denny at the 2014 DLNats to talk to the group about his journey through drag racing. Just some
thoughts from the freezing Ohio guy.

GREAT NEWS!!! I just heard that that the move has been made to............wait for it........
QUAKER CITY DRAGWAY in Salem Ohio, Sun. May 25.
Now I don't know if it will be the same huge show that Marion County was,25+ F/C's
Only Denny or Rocky can answer that. But I can assure that the quality of the show
and cars will be excellent.
So gorilli, Daryl&Heidi, and Ohio Dave, mark your calendar.

That's great. Where did you see it? Denny told me about it but I was keeping it under wraps until the official announcement. That place is SUPER easy to get to from the Midwest or the East Coast... I saw the Snake, John Collins/Mongoose, Bob Pickett/Mickey Thompson, and Stan Bowman run there in 1975 or 1976 at a great four car fuel show. bp

Quaker City has had new ownership the past few years and Norm is making the place into the showplace it was in the Mossey era. There is a new concrete surface to the 330' mark and a new asphalt surface the balance of the way. There is a nostalgia meet scheduled for the same day so the tie-in will be perfect. I'm glad to see that the funny cars are coming since it's a 1.5 hour drive for me. Can't wait.
Be kind to whomever you meet, because everyones fighting some kind of battle.

I smell the beginnings of a Midwest Mini DLNats a brewing as it is close to bp's old stompin' grounds too.

We are lucky to have Denny in our area to do his thing. Congrats Denny and thank you. :D

Yes, Midwest DLNs for sure. I plan to be there at this point. As of my last discussion with Denny, the event will remain the overall Nostalgia Event that Quaker City is running and the Midwest Funnies will be a featured part of it. Best wishes to all on this. bp
