Yes, Al speaks the truth,.....
I have sold the Veneys Vega as a roller, I still own the motor and tranny and such. It is a little disapointing that I let it go but as Randy
has stated I have a dream goal to achieve, and with that some period correct Blown Nitro funny car has my name on it for the future.
The New owner is Bill Lininger(sp) who left last night/this morning 12:30 am to make the 2400 mile trek back to St. Mary`s Ohio drove away with truley my proudest accomplishment that I have done with a car to date. The Veneys Vega was absolutly a blast and that car was extremely fun to drive and many that saw and watched the runs I have made with it felt the excitement as well as I did.
My task at hand now is ,...I am waiting to hear back with bids to finally pour some concreate for my 40x50 shop that I have had sitting in my yard
now for four years, will it get built we will see, but the left over money will go to buy the correct funny car chassis/roller that will suit me and my needs for
running a fuel motor,..the shop/chassis will either work out, or the bids will be way too much ,which if that is the case I am going to go buy this turn key fuel Altered(maybe,..if it is what the say it is, and the equiptment and parts are not all used up) and go get a vega body to mount on it.
If I score the aa/fa it will have everything that would normally or might take me and my money, or lack of, 3 to 5 years top put together, so its kinda of a , I better jump on this idea before it is gone, and then I will work on inspecting everything, getting the recerts done, buying a -20 suit, new fresh air helmet, gloves and such and make a few laps as a Altered,..oh yea renew my nhra membership and license...lol...after some runs then I will move forward with shortning the chassis, cage and mounting a vega body,..the fuel altered motor combo has ran 6.34@220 which is exactly the et and speed I am satisfied with.
The spirit and true passionation for the 1970`s funny cars will continue to be supported, and relived threw my actions and I hope it will be even greater success than the Veneys Vega was/is. The Veneys will recieve a medium to healthy BBC with Jackson stack injection, along with the correct clutch turbo 400, and shall get displayed at reunions, Nostalgia events as Bill can attend on his schedule, the Veneys Vega has been retired as a race car and now shall live out the rest of its life as a museum/cackle car,..AS IT SHOULD BE, with the exception that if he did want to get it down the track, I told him I would fly out to be the one to drive....
So with that said I have a placed an order of Veneys T`s to distribute to those who are long awaited and overdue.
Talk atcha soon.
