Hi everyone,
My name is Alan Currans and I would like to introduce you to my UK-based website The Acceleration Archive (http://www.theaccelerationarchive.co.uk).
It currently consists of 272 pages of photographs and 78 feature articles containing 11,874 images in all. The website for the restoration of the Allard Chrysler dragster, the first dragster built outside of the USA, is also hosted on my web space.
As you might imagine the focus is mainly on UK and European drag racing, which you may find of interest, but there is also quite a bit of US coverage as well, for example within the photo pages there are the following items which may be of interest :
The Roger Phillips Collection page 1 is a pictorial guided tour of 'Big Daddy' Don Garlits' Florida Speed Shop in 1971, page 2 features the 17th Anniversary Championship Meet held at Lions on 13 November 1971, and page 6 reports on the 2nd Annual Supernationals held at Ontario Motor Speedway on 20 and 21 November 1971 (Roger was a busy bee in the US in 1971!)
Moving on to Peter Quinn's Collection, page 3 features pictures of Top Fuel Dragsters taken at OMS and OCIR taken during his 1972 trip to the USA. Peter's page 4 is the same but is an all Funny Car affair.
Ex-pat Frenchman Benoit Pigeon nows resides in the US and his first two pages cover the recent Dragpalooza IX meet at Rockingham, while page 3 features Maple Grove's 50th
Anniversary Meeting held in 2012.
Moving on to the Feature Articles section of the site :
Brian Johnson - The Imperial Wizard contains an account of Brian's successful 1984 Top Fuel Bike campaign in the IDBA series,
The Restoration of Veney's Vega by ex-pat Pat Neal requires no further explanation, and
Roger Reporting consists of veteran UK photo-journalist Roger Gorringe's reports on some of the NHRA meetings in 2012 and 2013.
I hope you enjoy visiting the site. I will keep you advised of updates as and when they occur.
