New Grumpys Toys Book

Here's where we go to kick back after the races with our pals. Pour a tall one, punch a few buttons on the jukebox, and relax...

New Grumpys Toys Book

Postby JrStk » Fri Oct 08, 2010 9:11 am

Im happy to announce the forthcoming release of Grumpys Toys, my first full length book that I hope has done Bill justice. If thats possible with in 40,000+ words. The books been in the works forever, well the last couple years anyways and I was lucky to have Bill's input pretty much from the get go. The book does cover birth to present day and includes a write up on all the cars; The Old Reliables, Dodge Boys, Black Arrow and the 17 Toys etc. Its a great look behind the scenes of Jenkins Competition and the man they call Da Grump.
Ive got to give thanks to a long list of contributor as obviously theirs no way an undertaking such as this would have ever gotten off the ground. Mike Strickler, Jere Stahl, Joe Lepone Jr, Pete Preston, Steve Johns, Ed Quay, Ron Sperry, Pete Hutchinson, Derrick Von Bargen etc, etc.
Thanks for allowing me to blow my own whistle.
Doug

Thank you John. I too hope it does well, obviously. LOL.
Seriously, from a fans perspective, which I am first and foremost, theirs plenty of revealing information and countless rare photos. I'd say 90-95% of the photos have never seen print before.

Those who don't care to purchase online, the book will be available after Jan 15th at any one of your favorite book stores. They may not stock it but they will be able to order it.

I bought the book. Great effort. Photos and documentation brought back the best of ProStock days. Book hits the mark. Real factory sheet metal. We need this again. Todays "funny stocks" have no meaning. What is stock in this class?

Good point, Paul. Nothing is stock in that class. Doug's book is a great document of how, in my opinion, it should still be as well as how it was.
Seemed to me like Pro Stock Truck kept it real, but it got wiped off the face of the earth. WC1

Wow, not a lot of action in this section I guess.
Since doing the Grumpys Toys Book, Ive released "Junior Stock - Drag Racing The Family Sedan". Just released, Aug 2015 is "Drag Racing's Quarter Mile Warriors - Then and Now"
Ive got to thank everyone for their ongoing support. I appreciate it as it makes doing these books, all worth while.
