Postby j85 » Wed Mar 17, 2010 9:35 am

Just wanted to get an idea on what plugs to start out with. I have a 505 BB Chevy with Enderle injection on alky,Dart 320 heads Crane roller cam .730,13:1 compression. This is all new to me as I come from the dirt tracks.

J85,...
I run NGK`s on my BBC 505 NA stack injected on alky w/Dart Pro1cnc335 12.95-13.0 compression,. they work great
stock #4554
part# R5671A-8
I run a Vertex mag making 5.2 amps and use a plug gap of .020 and timing at 36*
I see you have a 7AL-2, I would gap about .026-.030

Where are you running your car ??,..and when....you putting a flopper body on that, or altered ????
looks great , and good luck.

Will be a 23T Altered.I just wanted a car that would give me a thrill. I have not drag race before so this will be an experience for me. I will be running KCIR in Kansas City,Missouri and Heartland Park in Topeka and do some travel. I really appreciate your advice.
Is that your car ? If so awsome looking car and what memory's

I got the Enderle on top of my 540. 15:1 CR, CFE heads 385 cc intakes, .800/.730 lifts on I&E. I run the Champion race plugs. Stock number 792 which is the C59YC plug. I go through one set a season. And yes run a smaller gap with the 7AL-2. Good looking machine. Have fun with it.

I have the older 320 S/R head that takes a tapered plug with a .460 reach.

J85,.
.whichever plug you choose, use this rule of thumb for your gap,..
The greater the amprage the mag makes or out of your msd box,. the less plug gap you want.
example,...
Msd mag 44amp,... .013
Msd mag 20, 12, 10amp, ,.. .016-.018
Mallory mag 5, 4, 3amp,...016.020 depending on amps
modified Vertex or anything under 5 amps you would go for .020 and less and so on.
msd 7AL-2,...024-.028
the deal is,. the more amps your mag or spark has, the less distance(gap) it wants to jump,
the less amps you have to make spark, the greater the gap should be to light all the fuel.
