Bonneville input?

Postby RH » Mon Jan 07, 2013 5:57 pm

After years of wanting to do it I'm finally heading to the flats in 2013.
A few of us old farts are making the trek from the East this August and seeking input from any of you
seasoned veterans as to where, how, who, what, when? to make the most of our time there.
Any help/tips that can be offered as to do & don'ts for surviving the environment for 4 days will be appreciated:)
Thanks!

Ron

The guy to talk to about this is Bret Kepner, who has become an integral part of the proceedings out there. Have a great time! bp

BP's right for sure about Bret, RH, but if y'all take I-10 and stop off in Houston on the way there, I guarantee you won't make it to the flats on time!
On the way back, that's different...
Have fun! Wish I was going with you. WC1

Will follow up with Brett as you guys suggested.
All of us have motorsports experience of one sort or another but we're all newbies to the salt.
This should be fun!
Thanks

We had an absolute BLAST!!! Thank's so much Bret for all that you did to insure that our trip would be a great one. From the many weeks of prep to our days on the salt to the evening download sessions with you at "sprinkler rock" the whole thing was phenomenal. Your guidance and communication over the months leading up to the trip and once we arrived on the salt should be made into a book!(hint..hint..)

Trying to briefly describe Bonneville to people.....can't. Absolutely the most unique motorsports venue in the world.
If anyone who has not been there thinks that they even have a clue! about this deal then they are mistaken.
The commitment that teams must make to run the event is mind blowing....even to attend as a spectator takes a lot of work
and planning. It is the most surreal place on the planet that you can imagine racing at.

Some of the coolest cars and friendliest folks to be found... when told we had driven all the way from Virginia it was instantly like we were a part of the gang...
our commitment to be there was appreciated.

Bonneville is not for the faint hearted but if you go with an awareness of the challenges you will not regret it. The help of someone deep in the know (Bret) is certainly a huge benefit and for the first timer I would say damn near imperative.

Thanks again Bret....and as a closing word....

DO NOT BUY TIRES MADE IN F'n CHINA!!!

Yes, it is an unbelievable place. It was great that you all had a good pit-crew
to change them tires. Other than that, I am glad the group had a great time there.
How about posting the pictures on the photo site here?
