Yabutt' the signature is merely a pre-stage. The thread is where it starts.

Well, that's my story anyway & I'm stickin' with it.

Another 90 predicted for today, Cheryl's weekend to work, so I'll be doing some trip plannin' this afternoon.

Another month & Cheryl starts her new job, that will be the end of weekend work @ work.

YES Boyd, YES you can. Salem Ohio is on the far west side of Ohio, not far from the Pennsylvania state line. I don't know witch airport is
large enough to offer a NON STOP for you. Or what would be the closest. Perhaps Jack, or BP would know.??

There are several options to choose from, Akron - Cleveland - Columbus -.....Perhaps even Pittsburg Pennsylvania might be an option...?
What do you think gang ?? Come on buckeyes, and former buckeyes, (BP) , lets get Boyd & Susan here in 2017.

Oh and I don't have the exact date in front of me Boyd, but, it's the last weekend in May. Probably the 27 & 28 of May.

First of all, we need to give Zappy a lesson in directions... :D

Salem is on the far EASTERN side of Ohio! It is due South of Youngstown (no more than an hour) and about an hour and a half Southeast of Cleveland. It is also just a bit to the West of Pittsburgh. Three great options for air travel.

Linda is working up a great hotel option near the track and Jack and Sharon had some ideas about staying closer to their place for the few days leading up to the weekend (for early arrivals). Based on the setup of this event, it's likely 2017 will be more of a traditional "Eddyville-like" DLNs, where some folks get there early and socialize for a few days and others kick things off with the Friday night dinner, and then day(s) at the track on Saturday and Sunday. This one is especially different from a few past years as Sunday is the big show day for the Funny Car Nationals. That will change the traditional Sunday farewell breakfast. It may be postponed to Monday for those who can accommodate the time and others may miss it.

East side of Ohio, yes, my bad. BP is right the early arrivers will sight see, the others will / should start off with the Fri. night dinner.
We will have to wait to see what the track books for Sat. If its good some may choose to go to the track Sat. Others may shop/ sight see Sat.

The MAIN show is Sun at the track. So again BP is right, the traditional Sun farewell breakfast, will be Mon. as it is a holiday so our teachers will be off work, then we travel home.

So Boyd ya don't want to book yer return flight until Mon. evening, or some time Tuesday. (just a suggestion ) So you two can make the breakfast.

BP I was hoping Pittsburg may be helpful for them, but I didn't know how big it was.? Thanks for chiming in. How bout Columbus ? is that too far ??
I'm thinking they would like a large airport because I believe they prefer non-stop, but it may not be a "must have".

Anyway count us in for early arrival, we want to see what the blond fur ball (Jack) has for us to see.

DLN 2017

May 29, 2017 is Memorial Day. That said we can start the festivities on the Wednesday/Thursday before if you would like. We need input on this for planning the schedule. Input, Johnny Five, input!!!!!!!!!!!
May 24th is National Brother Day
May 28th is National Burger Day
May 28th is also National Funny Car Day... no I just made that up but we will still celebrate it anyhow.

Okay, the nearest airport is Canton/Akron or CAK. This is the airport you need to use.
Canton, Ohio is centrally located to all of the events and is approximately 1 hour from any venue on the schedule.

Planning already underway and the following is on the schedule:

Ask Zappy and LL what they thought of the above.

http://www.warther.org/

Shopping and Flea Market

Dinner at an authentic Amish home.

Grilling doggies and burgers at Gorilli's house. Back porch social party at its finest. Nanners required from all Michigan peoplez.

Tour Amish country and home. http://www.yodersamishhome.com/

Football Hall of Fame
http://www.profootballhof.com/

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
http://www.rockhall.com/

Restaurants on list:
Panda Gardens oriental restaurant.
Dutch Valley http://www.dhgroup.com/restaurants/dutc ... arcreek-oh
Daily Grind coffee shop https://www.facebook.com/Daily-Grind-Ca ... 588367245/
Waterloo Restaurant http://www.waterloorestaurant.com/ The Big Apple is to die for....
Pete's Restaurant http://www.petesontusc.com/ Good food/reasonable price.

Parting Sunday breakfast which will be on Monday morning:
Golden Corral in Canton, Ohio This is close to airport and I-77.
Ferraro's Restaurant http://ferrarosrestaurantandbakery.com/

Okay, I need some input as to what you would like to do. I mentioned several things to do but I need a list of what you want and when you plan on arriving so I can get rolling on this.
If you go to maps and list the destinations Canton is centrally located to Dover, Cleveland and Salem which means an hour or less to anywhere. If Salem is the point to travel from it is an hour and half from Cleveland, an hour and half from the destinations in Amish country and an hour from Canton. That would mean an extra hour of travel time on the road. If we want to stay at different locations on our own let me know.

We will eliminate the B&B and look for a little less expensive alternative. Check these out and I will see if we can get a special rate.
