Maybe I wasn't supposed to say..OOPS Oh well, as we..er..I speak, Billy Mac daddy is on his way. 24hours in a Greyhound bus, 5 and half hours in a bandit t-bird. I meeting him in Champagne, Illinois about 10 am tomorrow. LOOOOOONNNG ride for Mr. Mac. Worry not o fellow DragListers. This bandit will have plenty of Dr. Pepper all iced down for Billy as we take the scenic cruise up route 74 to..uh...whatever that map says..
Other than all the really great Drag list stuff happening, I am also thrilled to being going through Ottumwa. Home of Radar O'Rielly and Tommy Johnson Mail order parts. When he used to live there..
(this is said, Mac Man  )

As I was "supposed" to be into Champagne around 10ish.....that's what Bandit gets for believing the grey pup's "promise" to be on time  ...I will admit that up until Nashville Tennesee, things were going great.......but
......due to the fact that they had no driver FOR our bus, OUT of Nashville.....our departure at 11:15 pm was postponed until after 2:30 am.
I called Bandito at about 1 am(ish..and woke him up...sawwy Bandit  ) to let him know there was going to be delays..........we got to Louisville KY and the driver that brought us from Nashville, took a hike back to Nashville...(grrrrr)....THEN.....a half hour LATER, a lady bus driver shows up...and has to go thru "pre-trip" inspection  ....(more GRRRR!!)....THEN  .....we all get loaded on the bus...the driver is IN the seat...the door is Closed...and the motor is running........but we sat there for ANOTHER 20 or 30 minutes before pulling out.......The driver "said" she would call ahead to try to hold my (and several other's) connecting buses...................we pull into Indianapolis at about 9 am....and I have missed my connection to Champagne by 15 minutes!!!!!....I find out from the ticket folks that my next available departure is 2.15 pm...and arrive in Champagne at about 5..(sheeshh!!!! ).......SO.... I call Bandit back....and let him know of the "new" itinerary.
HE....(God bless his pea-pickin soul  )......told me..."Hang On....I'll come GET you in Indy!!".....He showed up all the way down in Indy ...picked me up....."after" almost causing a multicar pile-up in front of the bus station  .......(LOL....to be fair.....my loud whislte "can" distract folk's attention ) .....He stopped in the middle of the street...and cars were having to swerve into oncoming traffic (fortunately that direction was void of any cars   ) to keep from pounding into Bandit's car........Then and Only then.....we headed WEST towards Iowa........(Thanks alone can NOT desribe my appreciation to the Bandit, folks......Love Ya, Man!!!)................

"Now"...we are just patiently waiting to see what happens next.....Stay Tuned

It was plenty hot... every bit of that 96 degrees that was forecast. But... to use the overused statement... it was a 'dry heat' and not too bad at all. That same temp in D.C. would make you want to kill yourself. The glow of hanging out with great friends (plus ample fluid intake) kept us all going! bp
