Randy - That's a thought about the shocks. Unfortunately the shocks that are under there are some old non-adjustable ones - at least I'm pretty sure they are - I actually haven't studied them that closely - they may be the old push them clear in and turn them variety - I'll have to check. Might be time for new shocks
Billy - I get confused regularly when it comes to the physics that goes on back there. But I believe, from what I've read, the I'm right. (I'm sure one of the other guys will chime in if I'm all wet) If the line from the tire contact through the instant center goes above the c/g (ladder bar high) the torque tries to raise the back of the car off of the read end, which hits the tires hard. If the line goes below the c/g (ladder bar low) the torque tries to lift the front of the car (which squats the back of the car) - this transfers more torque into all of the work of lifting and actually hits the tires less.
That's my story - and it'll probably change...
