John J. "Jack" Duffy, 82, of Levittown passed away on Friday, March 16, 2007.

Born June 11, 1924 in Philadelphia to the late Robert and Florence Duffy of Philadelphia he was an original Levittown homeowner.

Retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy, he was commissioned a Navy Pilot during World War II and also served in the Korean War accumulating over 25 years of both active and reserve duty. Jack was the Vice President of Public Relations at Hurst Performance, Inc. in Warminster and was also responsible for Advertising and auto racing Support Programs. Thereafter, he was VP of Public Relations for Thrush Inc. whose central offices are located in Ontario, Canada. He also served on the Board of Directors for Pocono International Raceway. He was a two-term board member of the Special Equipment Manufacturers Association located in Los Angeles, Calif. He was named "Public Relations Man of the Year" by the National Hot Rod Association. He was a model in the industry for outstanding achievements.

He was an honorary lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Joseph the Worker Council #4215 and the St. John Neumann Assembly rooted in his faith and membership at Immaculate Conception Parish in Levittown. Jack started each and every day with a song. His songs along with his ability to create laughter will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife Rita of 60 years with whom he shared a joy for travel and a passion for life inspiring all those who gratefully knew him. Jack is also survived by his five children Skip (Dorothy), Dennis (Candace), Timothy, Kevin and Maureen; ten grandchildren John, Greg, Shannon, Patrick, Shawn, Erin, Kimberly, Timothy, Susan and Thomas; four great grandchildren Patricia, Owen, Shane and Riley; and his brother Robert Duffy of Bensalem.

Family and friends are invited to call on Monday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, followed by Rite of Committal in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers and in remembrance of a man prized for both his joy of life and compassion for others, donations will be accepted by EQUI-LIBRIUM, a therapeutic riding program for persons with special needs at P.O. Box 305, Sciota, Pa., 18354. For more information call 574-992-7722.
