Yesterday we finished fabricating the AMC Hornet subframe connectors(so easy it wasn't funny). Since the rear floor pans are 1/4" lower than the bottoms of both the front and rear subframes it only required cutting open four 2" wide flaps to expose the ends of both frame sections. Getting the angle right on the roll bar mount was the only thing that took any amount of time. Did it all from inside the car too - from under the floor you would not know the subframe connectors are there at all. With the main rollbar hoop now tacked in final position the rest of the bars will be the next task before we plate and gusset everything and MIG weld it all solid.
Note the amount of red mud and gunk I dug out of those frame sections. It's no wonder those old AMCs rusted out so easily.

I haven't had to work with rusty floorboards like that since I put a subframe in a '67 Opel Kadette station wagon... Fun times :)

Maritime Stock/Superstock Report by Gerry Clow

June 2 2007 - The first race of the season for the 2007 Maritime Stock/SuperStock Championship is in the books with Nova Scotia's Bill Sheppard and his 1973 H/SA Duster coming out on top against Greg Nickerson 1994 B/FIA Pontiac Firebird. Sheppard run of 12.202 on a 12.20 dial was too much for Nickerson who broke out with a 10.613 on a 10.62 dial. Scott Underhill F/SA T-37 Pontiac and Terry Knapper I/S 1979 Camaro were the two semi-finals.
Greg Nickerson loss doesn't tell the real story of his day because after becoming the number One Qualifier with a time of 10.553 at 1.147 under his B/FIA 11.70 index he broke his transmission on his second qualifying pass and with the help of many of his fellow class racers he was able to return in elimination and finish runner-up.
