Here's where we go to kick back after the races with our pals. Pour a tall one, punch a few buttons on the jukebox, and relax...

I just read this. I'm sorry, Cat. Sabbath is in my prayers for a speedy recovery.
On April 27th I had to put Bandit to sleep. He got real sick real fast. It was one of the hardest things I ever did.

Thanks Wheelz. Very true about pets. :) Dogs for sure. No replacement for Bandit for now. I'd love to but I'm not home enough.
Maybe I'll look out for a Gorilli!!

It would be good to do one of these days, Bandito...I went and visited Sabbath today before his surgery. He's back to his old self except he can't use his hind legs just yet. His right hind leg is trying, but his left hind leg isn't working at all. The surgery will be to remove internal tissue around his belly that died and would eventually kill him if it didn't come out now. Other than that, he's amazingly docile and communicative, and he's trying to walk but he can't quite walk yet...the doctor told me everybody loves him, that he has a terrific personality and he's funny and witty with folks, they've become attached to him...I said "For you, special deal!" We had a laugh. Once Sabby recovers from this surgery (it ended up being the "easy" one, not the "bad" version), we expect to have him back home with us by the weekend...WC1

John, animals especially cats are very stoic. It still amazes me that my 3 legged fat cat had major surgery and had the big plastic halo collar on and he managed to get up 3 flights of stairs and pull himself up on the sofa at the foot of the bed and pull himself up on my bed just to sleep next to me. My cats are what people in my life are not.... loving.

Someone told me a long time ago that you can count your friends on one hand...I have some people in my life that are not there but for necessity...if I had things my way they'd be out of the scope of my life experience. But they're there every day and I suppose if they were gone, there are plenty of replacements ready to take over where they'd leave off...I could call myself an intolerant ass...there are behavior patterns and role-playing going on around me that I will change ...but a pet will never do the things that people will do. Never. Sabbath came through the surgery fine. He's rolling over on his back and gesturing to the medical staff there that it's been a wonderful party, but he really must be leaving...however, he will stay there for a few more days. Then it's welcome home...I saw him yesterday and he seems to have forgotten what happened until he tries to get up and move...he can't seem to figure out why he can't get up and go...up until that time, he had this pained, traumatized look about him. Not any more. I don't think he remembers the attack...maybe he does. I wish I could read his mind...WC1

They do remember as my 3 legged cat is scared to death of people. I think you will know more when you see his reaction to the neighbors dog barking. I always have places my cats can hide so their adjustment period is on their terms.
