arrrrggh....

Apparently I didn't sacrifice quite enough to the racing gods last fall. They demanded one more piece before they'd let the little hemi make noise.

We were cranking it over to get some oil pressure and - clunk! - it stopped cranking. uh-oh... Put the rachet on the blower - nope the engine isn't locked up - big sigh of relief. Hit the starter button again - thunk! - solenoids kicking out - but no turney turney...

Took the starter out (anyone who has seen this car knows that taking the starter out is not an easy task...) Put it on the floor and took the jumper cables and hooked a battery up to it - thunk thunk! - solenoid kicks out, but it won't turn at all.

Of course - I don't have a spare starter....

I've got a CSR, and I'm hesitant to get anything else because it JUST fits in the car between the steering and the block and the frame.

Called Jegs - they're backordered 3 weeks. Spent some time on the phone with the sales guy while I'm online looking at various starters that look like they're the same shape. "is this one in stock? - nope, but we've got this one..." Finally ended up getting the next model down in the CSR line. Hopefully it will start the little guy. I'll know Thursday night.

stay tuned...

Good Luck Perry, sorry to hear the news. I do hope you tried them direct, and that you ordered the bigger version to get it in stock as a spare.

Oh this is fun... I'm gonna be covered up with starters now.

Just out of curiosity I called Summit this morning since I can drop by there on the way home - I didn't bother last night because they never seem to have anything that I need in stock. But this morning - lo and behod - they have one in stock - and it's the bigger one like I've been running. So I'll pick that one up this afternoon.

I called Jegs to cancel the little one, but it's already shipped. not only that, it's out to be delivered to my house in an hour or so. Now that's some fast service - ordered it at 9:30 last night, and it shows up on by doorstep this morning!
