That is a very sad picture, Bob...sorry...but it's just one of the things about High Performance that comes with being involved in it. We know how you and your buds built that car...something like that was going to come down sooner or later, but this still isn't the desired result. Good luck on the rebuild and future better times. As you have told me, sometimes a setback can actually be a positive step in disguise...WC1

Bob, I'm not Smokey Yunick, but that looks like they were not properly torque'd. JMO Never seen any with splits like that though. Better days are coming bud.
If you think it's exciting now, wait till we start it.

The first time I saw a rod split like that was last May when Motry put in another rack and one of the rods split like that when they torqued it.

Thanks everyone.
I actually have a little good news to report. When we started to take things apart at the track, I was worried about being able to get the plugs out of # 7 & 8 well they spun out with no problem, I thought I was going to have to beat the ends of the plug tubes over to be able to pull the valve cover off to be able to get the heads off. Didn't have to do that.
Pulled the heads off the other night & so far so good, doesn't look like the pistons hit the heads at all, there is one mark on the piston from the valve touching it, but barely, so at least the heads aren't killed.
Might have to replace a couple of valves, the crank and the rest of the rods & pistons come out tomorrow so we can inspect the block for any major cracks and hopefully we can fix it.

Thanks for taking time to read my tales. :)

Thanks Rapid,
I'm going to go through everything on this car front to rear, checking everything. I'll be damned if I'm going through this crap again.
To be honest I should have done this before now, what's that old adage about hindsight being 20/20????
