Thanks Pappy, BP, Lippy.

Maybe I shouldn't admit this but I went to a big box store today and bought a couple pipe couplings for column mounts. I turned the inside to size. That required shaving the top half of the threads out. I'll call the threads that are left "Knurling"  Turned the outside down and left a lip on each side of the clamp to hold it in place. cut it in half so it's got the ''clevite bearing'' thing goin' on. Fits like a glove.

Got a question. I've got the steering column installed and everything set in place to see how it fits. Fits purdy' snug actually. It comes within about a 1/2" of the header, but it's just the shaft not a joint, so I think that will be O.K. My question is, I have about 1/4" clearance at the frame rail. Do you think that's enough? It's a mild steel chassis, so I don't expect there will be too much chassis flex? Even if there's some I don't know if it would be a problem based on the angle of the steering shaft to the frame rail. But, I could be wrong so that's why I'd like to get some opinions.

This is the most incredible stuff...
That looks a little close to me, but experts have the last word.
What stands out the most is you're keeping an open mind about it and asking the rest of us for advice on it...this car is good...life is good. WC1

Thanks Dennis. I'm gonna' go with it....(When my back ordered parts show up that is).

Got started making a bracket for the MC. Still have to make the base that mounts on the firewall. I decided that would be better than under the floor & having to mess around with B-R-A-K-E bleeding issues.
