Big day today. Going to Galveston this morning to get the Focus wagon and hang out with my Dad while my stepmom has her eye operated on. They aren't saying what's the matter with her eye but it's going to be about a 4-hour procedure. My Dad said the Focus had a flat and I planned to get the flat fixed but he told me last night that he's already had it fixed; also that he lost the hubcap and he ordered a new one which will be delivered today. That tells me he ran over a curb and he doesn't want to drive the car anymore. I'm sure my stepsister will be driving the Buick to and from the hospital. I'll probably keep the Focus, but I'm going to take it one day at a time. I drove Ludwig yesterday and the brakes went soft from sitting and not being driven. I'm either going to work 'em back in or have them bled or something to make 'em work right again. The plan is to take it in to Cole's next week and hook it up to his diagnostic computer. Tonight my class begins at College of the Mainland in songwriting. I got an email from the registrar this morning, and 10 people are in the class. It should be fun. I'm going to bring "Four Lifetimes" to the first class and go over "Meet Your Maker" with them tonight. I wrote that song during the recording of the album and assembled the tracks as we went along. I remember the band was confused and they were questioning my sanity (what else is new?) when I started working on that song, because it hadn't ever been played before, but what I did was I showed 'em how to use the studio itself as the instrument. It worked, and the band loves the song and we play it live as one of our best songs now. We're playing a benefit Sunday at 4PM down at 5th Street for Cindy Petersen, a breast cancer survivor who is a graphics manager in the Bay Area. Lynn gave us the choice to play any time we wanted and I picked 4 so the guys can get home in time for din-din. I'm excited about the class' possibilities. I'm giving the class off the top of my head, but I'll know more about what to do next week when I find out what these folks expect out of it after tonight. Please send positive thoughts. Cheers, WC1
