Its official, September 18,19,and 20, 2009 downtown Kingman will again be turned into the "Worlds Largest Legal Street Drags" with 10 classes running on the city street along historic Route 66!!
If last year is a sign of what to expect this year, then participants and spectators alike better get here early. We had a record 246 participants last year and the weekend crowd was estimated at over 15,000 spectators.
This year we will open up the weekend with the traditional Friday registration and pre- event party.But on Friday night we have added in a new twist. We will hold the burn out contest on Friday night. Times are still to be determined, but the whole idea is to get some rubber down on the street for the racers. Friday night will be free to all spectators. All weekend race participant receive an entry into the burn out contest but it will be open for anyone who does not wish to race for the weekend to enter too.
Saturdays Drag Racing will follow a similar schedule to the past as we will open at 10:00am and race all day until 8:00pm.
This year in conjunction with the Kingman Down Town Merchants Association Saturday will be turned into a complete down town block party. There will be a car and motorcycle show held simultaneously with the races and after 8:00pm there will be live music and dancing for everyone.
Sunday will again be a second day of racing for all fans and participants and we will crown all class winners and the burn out contest winner.

Capitol Raceway's Annual Nostaglia Races & Car Show
Capitol Raceway, (a mile long track) will be hosting their Fourth Annual East Coast Regional Nostalgia Drags & Car Show on Saturday, October 10th (rain-date Sunday Oct. 11). More to come later!
Capitol Raceway was the first track to have the starting-line Christmas Tree invented by Lew Bond, then the track manager and later a NHRA Division One Director. Also a net for a run-away car! This track also had a Van-Zem net at the finish line in 1962! What is a V-Z net? It was used on aircraft carrier to catch planes. Capitol has one of the biggest sand deposits on the USA including beaches. So, a mile-long a sand pile and a net, 1/4-mile drag racing!
