On Friday it took me 9 1/2 hours to do what was normally a 7 hour drive to Miramichi Dragway Park in New Brunswick.(construction, heavy traffic) As I was putting the truck through Tech it started raining so Friday night's Time Trials got washed out. Saturday morning I crawled out of the motel and headed to the track only to have showers delay things for 3 hours.
First time trial the truck was cold and coughed briefly once on the line before it decided to move. Result of that was a dismal 60 foot time and it reflected on the ET. The next run was qualifying for the ADRA points chase so I looked back in my records for a MPH that matched the first run and selected the ET from that run as my dial-in. That was good for the #6 position and lane choice in the first round.
Round one? A .456 redlight. I picked up my time card, turned left and went out the gate for home. No traffic, no construction, and a bit too much speed at times got me home in exactly 6 hours. So that's 16 hours in the seat, rain(twice), a hard bed in a cheap motel, junk food, sunburn, one time trial, one qualifier and a first round redlight but I would not hesitate for a moment to do it all over again.
