Shane, it was great meeting you.

Funny thing... I had zero clue you were taping us. I guess when it is time to fire the car off my mind is 110% on the car.

Thanks again.

Eric, are you in for this weekend? Maybe respond in the Eddyville thread or a PM so we don't derail Gator's Thread.

Rapid
Well.....

I went down last nite and put the new distributor in, set the timing, phased the rotor, etc.

We cranked it over, built oil pressure. All things good! :D

We fueled it up and got ready to fire it. Everything was OK as long as I was bottle feeding it but it wouldn't run without the bottle.

I pulled the main fuel line off between the pump and the barrel valve to see what was going on. My newly rebuilt pump is not putting out any fuel. Since it was dark I decided to call it a day and put all of the tools away and load the car back up.

Here is what I am planning:

Friday I have the day off and I plan to head down to Mom & Dad's. I am going to pull everything apart and find my problem.

It could be:

The flapper valve between the tank and the pump.
The pump drive shaft which Josh and I made earlier this year (to short??)
The coupler between the pump drive and the pump.
The seals dried out and went bad in the pump despite the fact that I had regularly oiled them and they never had fuel in them.

If I get this figured out I plan to wire the trailer brakes on the truck and stock the trailer.

If all goes well I will be down to Eddyville for the Draglist Nationals on Saturday...

If all goes "not so well" then we MIGHT bring the car down to get it teched in by Rock. But obviously no competing.

If nothing else, I plan to come down and see you guys.

Eric,

The very first thing to check is to make sure the pump is going the correct rotation. It happens alot!!

The 2nd thing is to check the fuel shut-off, remove the hose and physically look to verify it is open when you think it is.

Yep, I did that the other night. All was good.

I just got home. Thanks for the offer, but I think I 'might' have it figured out. The little poppet down by the port distribution block had the white gunk it in and was stuck shut. Of course it was the last thing we checked.

I had the car running and have a few nuisance fuel leaks and stuff to sort out tomorrow (today...) morning. I am not sure if we will have the car with us or not, we definately will not be running it. I have to many little gremlins that came up during the first fire up.

And some other things that I haven't gotten around to. These race cars are alot of work, maybe I should just take up golf.

See you guys later today.
