Really! - unfortunately I'm the crew chief too...

Someone suggested that I put a air or electric shifter on it so I didn't need to worry about it. I told them that if I was gonna start putting automatic stuff on it I may as well race my wife's mini-van.

   That just might go down as the POST OF THE DAY! 8)

Geez wheelz - you miss the race that's 2 hours away and make the one that's 8 hours away ;)

jk - I know all about trying to fit racing into life's schedules.

We'll see you in BG then.

Got a question for the tire gurus....

Had the back wheels off of the car this weekend while I was redesigning the rear frame horns for wheelie bar clearance. I got to looking a bit closer at them and discovered they're striped.

These were new slicks 3 runs ago. The rough, pebbly surface that you expect on a slick after it has been run was in strips running around the tire. In between these were strips of smooth, like new rubber.

I'm thinking one of 2 things - 1) I ran them too hard and the tire didn't flatten out on on the track (I had 9 lbs in them), or 2) I didn't run them enough to wear them in.

What do you guys think?

What size, what compound, who manufactured them?

M&H 12.0/29.0-15 compound #704
http://www.mandhtires.com/store.php?&rn ... how_detail

the 704 compound is toward their harder compounds

I haven't had the car on any scales yet, so I have no idea what it weighs. I would guess 2000-2500.

Where are the strips, outer edges? or Down the center?
