That album preceded "Big Sounds of the Drags" by about a year...I think the Big Sounds album has the '64 Winternationals on it...I gotta look it up in my collection and check on that...this one isn't NHRA...it's a true rarity, and it should be stored carefully as it will surely gain value over time...once the fuel ban was lifted, they had the idea (common sense) to record the runs and it was good. I am sure this album has a fuel dragster on it, but it was not an NHRA run, probably Smokers or an AHRA car...I could be out in space with this post, but at first sight I said it's either a boot (they made it before NHRA could copyright its contents) or an independent...I forgot to check out the record label...great find, and that guy is OK for doing that, Mike. I never envisioned Ed "Big Daddy" Roth's "A La Kart" as being a drag racing car...it was a custom show rod...but that tells me something right there about the folks that made this record. They picked up some stock pictures and somebody saw "Big Daddy" on one of them..."Hey, he's the big-time drag racer! Let's put HIS car on there!" I'll bet it is a very interesting listen. I get chills listening to the audiocasts of national events...this is history, man! Cheers, WC1
I changed my mind once I took a long, close look at that record, Mike...it's a band called The Blasters playing songs about hot rods...
