Just got back from the shop and it looks like we are done for the year. :(
Block is hurt pretty bad, no major cracks, so it is fixable. But it won't be easy to fix.
Stock tip: Now would be a good time to buy stock in company's that make aluminum welding rods.
The cam is junk, like I figured.
Crank has to be sent out to have # 7 & 8 journal ground & hard chromed back to size {no surprise there}
5 pistons survived, sorta of, but not taking any chances. Ordering new ones, along with new rods.
Haven't taken the oil pump apart yet, so don't know what kind of shape the gears are in.
So all in all we pretty much junked the short block.
It appears that #8 rod broke on the little end & that started the chain reaction.
But who knows?
The only thing I know is this, this car is not going to beat me, quitting is NOT in my vocabulary, I will make this car go from starting line to finish line without problems, blowing up, or .......

Thanks for taking time to read this.

Edit to add: I really hope that those who have looked at this, really don't think that I am this stupid or incompetent, trust me I'm not.
Sorry, my ego is a little bruised at the moment. :oops:

We don't think anything of the sort, Bob. People who think this stuff is easy don't have a clue and belong in the stands (with me) where they belong. Sorry for the troubles, but I have no doubt you'll solve it and start making crisp passes in early 2008. bp

Don't feel bad Bob - I know exactly how you feel. After years of building KB's, then having ruined 2 Donovans in a very short time - I'm the one that should be embarrassed :oops:

No Perry, Bob is right. :lol: :lol: OK, before anyone shoots at me, I must say Bob and I are very good friends. At least we used to be. :lol: :lol: Hey Bob, I still have those old aluminum bumpers if you need them for patch panels. :lol: :lol: :lol: Seriously....Bob, I know you. If you had been involved earlier it would have spit 4 or 5 rods. :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: I'll be expecting a call today. :wink: :lol:
