I got looking at the parts and pieces of my radius brake contraption...and I have no idea how I made things work
There are 4 different parts to the deal....and I "think" I did things in two separate steps...1, to get things started in the right direction and 2, to finish it off to the desired bend (hence the rachets) I has been quite some time since I made one of those type dash's and I may have slept a time or two since then
Also in my arsenal of homemade toys is a 10ft long brake, that utilizes a motor grader blade, some really heavy 3/4 thick angle iron, a piece of 8 inch "I" beam, a pair of 3/4 rod ends and a couple of chain binders to produce a relatively easy (one man operation) 90* bend in a 10 foot long sheet of .040 aluminum. (On that long a sheet, I have to have a minimum of an inch for the 90, because it just wants to kick it out when I try to put the bend in....On smaller pieces, it's no problem getting down to a 1/2 inch 90. I have bent 90's in some .080 diamond plate aluminum, but I had to have some extra help to get it to do it...those pieces were about 6 foot long...I made a custom set of fenders for a semi...[the guy sold the truck before I finished the fenders
