Folks,
This is the first time I have ever been anywhere on this site except, What's Up and Super Teams Reports. Just not done it.
I just read all 8 pages of Tell Me About Your Kid's and it was all great. Talk about some music talent in the group!
We have 3 kid's. son 44, daughter 42, daughter 34. Between them we have 6 grandkids, 20,18,16,14,13 and 1 years old.
All 3 kids work for insurance companies. All 3 different companies.
The youngest and oldest have college degrees and the youngest, is close to her Masters, but getting pregnant threw a wrench in the works. She has the 1 year old.
The 2 oldest are close by, but the youngest went to Chicago to college, met a local boy and is still over there. She lives in Mokena and she and her husband both work in the Sears Tower.
The son started college as a music major,(trumpet), but changed schools and graduated with a business degree. Has not played in years.

Nick's band, Blastula, tied for second place at Gorilla Productions' Battle of the Bands yesterday evening at Fitzgerald's here in Houston. I took 32 pictures, but these are the ones I'll post. They were clearly the best band there but the bands were judged at the end of the night by the loudest 5 seconds of cheers. Blastula and Contusion tied for second and will move on to the finals in June. That's show-biz. Nick and the boyz were thrilled to be in it. One thing Nick did that really impressed me other than his playing, which was ungodly, was that he appreciated the sound man helping him and giving him advice. He got me to take a picture of him and TJ with him at the end of the night. Nick's got a lot of soul. Life is good. WC1

I just read all 8 pages before I realized this thread had been around a while. But I gots kids, so I'm gonna pop in.

Actually, The Totally Awesome Missus Murff (aka Nancy) and I each have 1.5 kids, 1 each from previous 'encounters'.

Nancy has a daughter, Sarah, who was 11 when Nancy and I got married. Sarah is 27 now, graduated from So. Seattle CC Culinary Arts program a few years ago (man, I miss all those cookies and candies she used to make for school), and spent most of 2006 opening / managing a restaurant in Prosser, WA (of all places). Prosser used to be apple country but now rivals Napa Valley for wineries. She is back on our side of the mountain as of this month, looking to start an online cooking show.

Here's a pic of the grand opening of Picazo 717. L to R is Frank the owner, Nancy, yours truly, and Sarah. (I'm not much of a wine drinker, but Sara is thoughtful. She had a bottle of 20 year old scotch there for me, and I did enjoy it.)

Nancy's .5 in this is my son Jake. Jake is 22 and just deployed to Afghanistan the week before this past Christmas. Jake grew up a typical Murphy, too interested in cars and girls to pay attention to anything else. He did hook up with a real nice chick a few years ago and they were married in 2006 when he was home on leave from basic. No grandkids yet but I have a hunch that shortly after he returns from deployment we'll be on our way.

As it is with boys I have had many proud moments and a few where it's a wonder we didn't beat hell out of each other. For that matter I wonder why my Dad didn't beat hell out of me.

Here's a 'proud' moment, Jake filling out his first tech card at Renegade Raceway in Yakima WA. last summer while home on leave. He made his first ever 10 second pass later that night.

I love both of MY kids and miss them terribly when they are not close.

But like has been asked before in this thread, where did the time go? It was just a few months ago I was pulling the training wheels off of Jake's bike, and a few weeks later I was showing him how to speed shift without using the clutch in his '86 Mustang.

I guess it's like that for every generation tho', huh? I was talking to my Mom this weekend, she's 83. She keeps forgetting that her sons are now in their 50's and 60's.
