Tubing and Pressure

Postby Iowa Al » Thu Nov 12, 2009 8:08 pm

Having once owned a 62 Corvair Spyder with it's teenie turbo and lots of lag, this old guy just cannot fathom how today's blowers and turbos can move the huge volume of air all around, even into the cockpit to an intercooler and maintain as much psi as they do. It's just amazing. Get that car finished soon Gary, I want to see it go down the track.

So do I Al. It's been a couple months or so, but I got a little "Z" time in today. Not much but at least I got it dusted off a little. I made a 1/2" mock up plate to go under the mock up carb. that sits atop the mock up engine. The intake tube is a very tight fit from the firewall to the carb hat so I thought it might be a good idea before I do any welding, to have a 1/2" space between the carb & intake. That'll give me a little extra room for gaskets, maybe a plate to mount stuff on or a place to tap into the intake or whatever else might pop up in the future. Once I get the intake tubes welded in place it'll be time to start on the firewall sheet metal...finally.

Good going, ProZ, as always. No doubt the firewall project will be as precisely done as everything else you've built for this car. Looking forward to seeing it! Cheers, WC1
