Unfortunately yes. Turns out there's something wrong inside the bell housing. Jeff said the clutch never slipped, never made noise or showed any signs of going south. New hyd. clutch IS moving the fork, but there's not nearly enough resistance there. He's got about 20,000 hard miles on it so he ordered new Clutch, PP, throw-out bearing, etc.
I'll be interested to see what let go. Anytime I had a clutch or T-O bearing go bad it either slipped or made noise.
He's got today & tomorrow off, so he's tearing it apart & ordering a new clutch assm.
Stay tuned. Obviously the Dyno deal for today the testing tomorrow ain't happnen'. Looks like DLN's will be the first test.

Oh, BTW: Starter went out on the P.U. a couple days ago too. I guess it's a goota' thing this is all happening now rather than on the road next month. :?

Also, yesterday I slid under the truck to we what was needed to replace the muffler (I've had a muffler in the box, in the garage since last fall). While snoopin' around I noticed the tread on the tires was ....well it wasn't Ann E Moore. So, today I got a new set of skins. I didn't want to pull the trailer out to Iowa next month with balled tires. Rides much better now. 8) 8) 8) 8)

Looks like the metal on the clutch disc cracked in a couple places on Jeff's caah. Then it got bent out of shape and a 3-" piece of the fiber face cracked loose. 2-3 fingers on the pressure plate were collapsed also. Jeff's got the new stuff on the way. He's taking the flywheel to the machine shop to check for cracks & resurfacing. Should be back in business by next week.

Everybody (but me) had to work this weekend, we celebrated Father's day Thursday, so I had the weekend to work on the firewall. Got a fair amount done.

Since this WILL be a street legal car, I found a new spot to display the trim code tag.

I stuffed it between the strut tube & the inlet side of the intercooler.
Also made paper patterns for a couple more pieces of the puzzle.

I decided to stamp a "Camaro: logo in the driver's side panel

The press and bead rolling oil canned the panel a little but I think it will straighten out when I put the 7/8" tabs on the top & bottom with the brake.

It came out fairly clean, even the little piece in the top of the "o" stamped. That part was about 1/2 the size of a pencil eraser. When I paint the firewall I'll paint the logo over this, the stamping will give it a little extra "pop".

I still have the original VIN tag, goes under the windshield on the driver's side. I might stamp the chassis though.
