Yup, it's what we use to call a "Sit down, shut up and hang on" car.

I still have the original VIN tag, goes under the windshield on the driver's side. I might stamp the chassis though.

don't think about it, do it with another racecar stolen out of yorkville lastweek you need every sort of Id on the car , as you removed the secondary vin location when you replaced the firewall ( it was located next to the heater box opening ) I marked the main rails on mine near a spot that would involve destroying the chassis to remove it .

The more I looked at the Camaro panel the more things I found I didn't like. The deal breaker was when the bead rolled lines didn't match up to panel next to it. So, tonight I knocked out another one. It didn't take long since I had the stamp & measurements from the first "prototype". [ prototype = politically correct term to describe "junk part"]. I had to lay the panels in place to see how it was going to look. There's a lot of massaging to be do to get everything to fit, but it is getting closer.

sell the old one and make some toy money , that intercooler outlet with the cap on it looks like a gernade launcher ....

I changed the "camaro" panel one last time. This is the one I think I'll stick with. Still have a fair amount of tweaking & aligning to do & a couple small side panels to make.
I bought a quart of self educating primer last Saturday. WOW, been awhile since I bought that stuff. $90.00 a quart.

Thanks Daryl. Here's where it's at to date. Got a bunch of little details to finish up & then I think I'll give it a shot of "self-educating" primer to keep the summer humidity from getting to the metal.




Yesterday we took Jeff's camaro to the dyno for a tune. After hooking it up to the laptop we found that it had indeed had a tune-up at some point so it wasn't as far off as we thought it might be. So, the H.P. gains weren't what we were hoping for. He picked up about 12-14 H.P. at the wheels so it did help some. Turns out the MAF sensor has a flat spot in it around 4,000 to 4,500. Torque & H.P. actually drop off through that range [goes pretty rich]. So, he's got another sensor on the way. Up round 5,000 is where there is a noticeable torque change for the better. I think as important as the modest H.P. gain, once the sensor is replaced it will have a more consistent torque curve. He should be able to better his 8.87 best time to date, but we will have to wait until next week to see if the tune-up and the gear change from 4:10 to 4:30 will be enough to make up nearly .4 to beat my old 8.48 from back in the day.
