Heading out this AM for the 8 hour drive to Greenfield Dragway on Nova Scotia's south shore. This weekend is the first annual "Team" race for the top points finishers in each class at each of the four Maritime tracks. That makes for a 16 car field in the Sportsman and Bike/Sled classes and 32 entries in both Super/Pro and Pro. There's lots of prize $$ and merchandise for the winners in each class and enough bragging rights to last the winter. Since I finished in 4th for the year in Sportsman class at Cape Breton Dragway I'll get a shot at some of those goodies. Since it's also the last Atlantic Drag Racing Association points meet of the year I might even get a chance to improve my standings(currently tied for 6th) Not bad for an old guy's first year back behind the wheel after a 30 year absence.

If I can get to a computer before Monday I'll file a report but if not I'll be back with the details then.

This past weekend saw the largest number of drag cars in history assembled in one place in Atlantic Canada(300+). The team race was a disappointment for yours truly as I was stuck in the .490 redlight zone but a couple of other Team CB entries more than made up for it. There were so many entries in Saturday's Gambler's race(230) there simply wasn't enough daylight to finish it so the last couple of dozen split the payouts. Today was a rainout so I split for home at 8:30 AM. Here's some of the pics I snapped Saturday morning at Greenfield Dragway - Enjoy!!

Wow! Great race, Maritime! Record turnout...I love the Bug...looks like it's got a motor in the front...and "Lo-Life" is a totally cool car...thanks for the pics! Sorry about the red light, but it looks like it was still a fun time! Cheers, WC1

First thing I thought of was how you would like that bug. About all I can tell you is it had a small block Chevy and a leaf spring rearend. One guy told me it was sitting on a shortened and narrowed S-10 frame. How they narrowed the front suspension and still fitted a SBC in there is beyond me.

Here's a few more pics from Saturday. Notice the pair of Road Runners - the blue one is an original Hemi car and the green one is an original 440 six packer. Best part is they still belong to the original owners.
