Perry, I am sure you have thought of this, but make sure it is the chassis sitting lower, and not just the body. It happens.

You probably have tried this, but if the car is shaking, and you think you are still rich on the fuel system, try adding a pound of air. It just might help you get thru the shake by a bit of spin if the track is grabing the tire and causing shake. Just a thought.

Yeah - the body was my initial thought - but I took the hood off and the upper A-arms are definitely not at the same height relative to the upper spring mounts. My other thought is that maybe the spring is going away...

I've thought about adding tire pressure, but I'm already running 9lbs in them - that's a bunch harder than anyone I know. My ladder's are pointed up slightly when you look at them - I think when I added more power, it's just hitting the tires so hard that they can't take it and are balling up - moving it down will remove some of the initial hit on the tires.

I would suspect the spring also. Thanks for taking to time to reply.

Can you stiffen the rear shocks to keep from hitting the tires so hard?

I may be wrong Perry...but I have always heard that lowering the bars puts MORE bite in...raising lessens the "hit" a bit.......Good luck with it  8)

(is there room under there for a 4-link setup??)

Randy - That's a thought about the shocks. Unfortunately the shocks that are under there are some old non-adjustable ones - at least I'm pretty sure they are - I actually haven't studied them that closely - they may be the old push them clear in and turn them variety - I'll have to check. Might be time for new shocks

Billy - I get confused regularly when it comes to the physics that goes on back there. But I believe, from what I've read, the I'm right. (I'm sure one of the other guys will chime in if I'm all wet) If the line from the tire contact through the instant center goes above the c/g (ladder bar high) the torque tries to raise the back of the car off of the read end, which hits the tires hard. If the line goes below the c/g (ladder bar low) the torque tries to lift the front of the car (which squats the back of the car) - this transfers more torque into all of the work of lifting and actually hits the tires less.

That's my story - and it'll probably change...

Well we finally sold the house (it's been on the market for 15 months), so we're moving this week. The bad news is that the race car will sit for another week until I can find time to work on it. The good news is that we're moving to where the race car is, so it will be much easier to work on it.

Back to packing....
