Switching gears to a much sadder subject... Many moons ago, while working at a recording studio in New Jersey, I had the opportunity to spend time with Whitney's mom, Cissy Houston, a successful singer in her own right... Cissy is a Grammy winning soul and gospel vocalist... I share some profound memories of that encounter as I express my sympathies for Cissy and family... Today in my alter-ego driven drag racing blog...

I mean, let's face it, we're drag racing folks, so we darn well understand that loving cars can be an addiction... HOWEVER, that said, there's the extremely unsettling story of Nathaniel, who was recently exposed on THE LEARNING CHANNEL'S "MY STRANGE ADDICTION" TV program, as having an, ahem, "intimate" relationship with "Chase", his 1998 Chevy Monte Carlo, for nearly five years... The Drag Racing Underground site was down for a couple days due to our resident cyber geeks making horsepower adding modifications... Today I return to the blogger's seat with the troubling news of Pat Garlits going into the hospital with advanced Alzheimer's disease and husband Don Garlits having a stroke... It appears that Don is doing alright despite the stroke, although there's no denying that both of them could use our thoughts 'n' prayers...

This past weekend the names that received that most attention at Daytona International Speedway were two guys who probably never even stepped foot in a race car... Presidential hopefuls Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum were the "darlings" of the Daytona 500 media... Evidently NASCAR brass welcomes and openly embraces politicians and their political schtick to NASCAR's massive motorsport arena-- This prompts me to ask the question of whether or not drag racing fans would like or dislike politicians having a presence at NHRA events??-- This is the touchy subject that I face with complete courage in today's blog... And we also know that bullying in our schools is now considered a problem of "dangerous" and "epidemic" proportions... Yes, bullying in any form is wrong and immature... Being one of drag racing's slim minority of serious female journalists, I know what bullying is, however, the media giving kids the impression that violence is their only recourse to bullying is just wrong... I say "Shame On You" to the mainstream media...

Yes, Bill, I agree... The way the mainstream media is actually starting to deflect blame from the truly guilty parties in these sort of tragedies is a most disturbing trend... With today's blog I announce E'Town opening the gates to 1/4 mile drag racing this Sunday, March 4th (weather permitting)... It's rumored that a healthy handful of "NO TIME" cars will be showing up for battle... I also discuss the passing of singer Davy Jones (of The Monkees)...
