Threee notes to post...

First, as you already know, Laura is #1, take care of her and everything else will be OK. I send my best wishes for her to get well soon.

Second, as Iowa Al said, it hurts to look at those pictures, but I couldn't look away, either. It is a testament to the unpredictable forces of nitromethane in a supercharged hemi engine...this proves it happens to the best of them.

Third, ProZ, I don't think Rapid would have any problem at all staying in a purple room...

Good luck with that, Rapid. You'll fix it. Damn. WC1

Heck Randy - them's just some wee little holes :lol:

Was it a bearing? The bottom of the rod looks a bit rough for a rod or bolt failure. Did you blacken the journal very bad?

we had some rods break in our KB Johnson motor like that. How many runs did you get outta them? This last season we were changing out rods in our hemi (detuned and 8-71) every 50 runs (brooks b2) but at run 32 we noticed number 3 and 4 connecting rod cap cracking through where the bolt head releifs are cut into the cap. On the KB johnson motor was every 25 passes and the ones we blew out the block had 9 runs. Quality control done on monday apparently :roll: haha

Thanks everyone, I don't really know yet. We are going to change the pan tomorrow night, so we should get a "Little" better look inside. On the rod we found in the diaper, the crank end was beat up pretty good. That is what makes me think a bolt, cap,,,or maybe a bearing. I haven't seen the crank yet.

It has to go to some dispays before we can take it out and really strip it down, then we should know more.

Jared, it was the 20th pass it broke on. We usually change them at 30-runs which is approx 1-season on them.

Thanks again for the well wishes for Laura, she seems to be on the mend now.

Rapid {Leaving for the CHHR in 2-days} 8)

In our KB/Veney motor in the pulling truck we had to replace them every 20 runs. We broke 2 sets on the 22'nd and 23'rd runs, so after that, they came out after 20. Apparently 9000 rpm for 15-20 seconds was a little hard on them :shock:

Might be hard on them,,,but does sound fun!! :lol:

20 runs X 20 seconds = 400-seconds

30 runs X 6 seconds = 180 seconds {Our Normal season}

50 runs X 6-seconds = 300-seconds {What I thought the normal deal}

Just as a comparison for thought.

Rapid (900-bucks for 180-seconds,,,isn't this drag racing fun!) :roll:
