It seems like every single time I'd check in on the "March Meet" this past weekend, there would be downtime due to yet another oil down... That said, with today's blog I address the subject that seems to be way too "sensitive" for many of my more squeamish press colleagues to openly discuss-- Yeah, I'm straight talkin' 'bout oil downs-- and the responsibilities of crew members and drivers to do everything humanly possible to avoid them... Downtime ruins races, discourages novice spectators from ever coming back to the track, it's just a bad scene, baby!... In today's blog I do my part to try to bring attention to the problem of oil downs, and while I admit that they're not always avoidable, in many cases they are, and I give crew members and drivers the real skinny on how they can reduce the frequency of them... Even if you're a crew member not making the "big bucks", and your only compensation for the weekend are barbecue burgers and a pat on the back, it's still imperative that you take your responsibilities very seriously, and do everything in your power to ensure you're sending your driver down the strip in a ride that's as safe as it can possibly be-- and leak free...

... And for you drivers, if you suspect your car has broke and could possibly be leaking fluids, pull safely off to the side of the track and get out of the main groove. This will make cleaning up your car's mess a lot easier and less time consuming...
