Drag Racing in the Maritimes is a logistical nightmare for sure - a trip to Clarenville Dragway in Newfoundland takes 12 hours on a huge ferry and if you're between 50 and 60 feet overall it will lighten your wallet by $562.50(one way!!) That's $1125.00 for the round trip.

From my house to the ferry to Prince Edward Island is 4 hours drive, then a wait of anywhere up to an hour or two for a ferry then 90 minutes on the boat and an hour from the ferry terminal to the track(Raceway Park PEI)

Miramichi Dragway Park in New Brunswick is an eight hour drive from here if you stop once for a meal. Part of the trip is over a toll road that will cost you $3.50 per axle.

Greenfield Dragway on Nova Scotia's south shore is approx 7 hours from here in Sydney - again that's including a meal stop.

Cape Breton Dragway is maybe 10 minutes from my house if the traffic is light - 15 minutes during rush hour.

I'm sure those other tracks are nice, but Cape Breton sure sounds good to me...

Don,
Thanks for the information, it is unreal what you folks do to race.
You could cure all that by moving to the Midwest U.S. ???????? LOL

I am right now reading a Moon travel guide to the Canadian Maritime's and the Cape Breton drive is way up on the list if we ever get there. We have been as close as Camden, Maine, but that's it.

Yesterday my buddy Len found something to do with the $$ he got for the orange dragster. This Super/Comp Vette is the new toy for Nicholson Racing. It's a chrome moly tube chassis car with a strut front and a 900+HP 540 and weighs 2150 with driver. It's gone a best of 8.30 but was usually throttle stopped to 8.90. Needless to say it doesn't have that gizmo on it anymore LOL. Will post more pics maybe later today or tomorrow when we get it out of the trailer. Another buddy bought the trailer that was part of the package so it was a "kill two birds with one stone" day for Team Cape Breton. As team crew chief I'm really looking forward to dealing with naturally aspirated gas burning stuff again. Blown alcohol just gives me headaches LOL.

That looks like a VERY cool project, Maritime! Great choice by Len! Good luck with all of it...I liked the dragster but hey. This will be just as much if not more fun! Cheers, WC1
