As some of my readers already know, Drag Racing Underground's John Gill recently bought a pristine and muscled-up 2000 Lincoln Continental... The car was formerly a "prop car" used on THE SOPRANOS TV series... It's awfully fast and luxuriously furious (it's already been up to 120 mph)... John did a color rendering of the lady who sold him the Lincoln that I think is kinda weird and worth sharing with my readers... All that in today's blog... As for your Sun. post. I hope yer right about the movie helping the sport. As long as someone is familier with the sport. I'm glad they are doing this while we still have them both. I look forward to seeing it. Just please, no 40 second races, shifting every 10 seconds, and the drivers looking over at each other. Like Frankie and Annette....remember those??

Zappy, I'm sure the producers will be taking some creative license with the film, but hopefully they'll remain loyal to maintaining authenticity... I would guess that it will be more true-to-life than the Frankie & Annette movies... Yesterday's blog showing the drawing of the woman who sold Drag Racing Underground the 2000 Lincoln Continental caused quite a stir in my mailbox... Lots of emails requested that I post a pic of the actual car itself...The Continental's potent 32 Valve V8 makes lots of horsepower, and enough torque to torment most other cars on the street-- (it has already accelerated up to 120 mph), it's awfully fast and luxuriously furious... And since it was once a "prop car" on THE SOPRANOS TV series, it's definitely a bruiser... In today's blog I make a challenge to anyone with a true street-driven "luxury sedan" to a duel at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park!!... "The Doc" (Celebrity Drag Racing Authority & Visionary)...

Jack, since yesterdays blog, I've discovered that there's others out there in cyberland who are just as chuffed about their Lincoln Continentals of the 1998-2002 era as I am... It's definitely wicked-cool that Ford put the same mucho-muscled-up 32 Valve V8 that they used in their Mustang Cobras in the engine compartment of their Lincoln Continentals too... Today's blog is inspired by a heads-up from my longtime friend Rocky Pirrone... Evidently NHRA plans on having a class for the "Classical AA/GS Group" at this years U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, Indiana... We're not just talking a few exhibition runs, we're talking their own class!!... Complete with two qualifying shots, eliminations on Sunday and the semi's and final round on Monday... What an excellent opportunity to showcase the pre '67 AA/GS class!!... I discuss with further detail in my alter-ego driven drag racing blog... Here's a pic of Rocky Pirrone's beautiful "Boss Hydro" Gasser, built as a tribute to Rocky's dad, Joe Pirrone Jr., who was an accomplished racer inducted into the East Coast Drag Times Hall of Fame. I'm sure Rocky and all the old school Gasser guys are going to shine at this years NHRA U.S. Nationals event in Indianapolis, Indiana! I'm real happy for them!

Every season I hear from more and more drag racers sobbing about nasty divorces they're going through-- and lately it seems like the number of male racers I'm hearing from who are going through painful divorces is on the rise... I dispense advice to male racers who want to maintain a healthy marriage while still pursuing their drag racing dreams... It's a matter of keeping a good balance between your marriage with your wife, and the love affair with your race car... I admit to having become addicted to the new hit TV show, "DOOMSDAY PREPPERS", that airs regularly on the NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC NETWORK (check local programming listings for broadcast dates and times) ... Seeing folks preparing for the alleged impending doomsday is entertaining, I don't know why, it just is... Knowing that among our community of drag racers and drag fans, that we've got our share of, uh, somewhat "extreme" and "eccentric" characters, I pose the question to my readers of whether or not they're a "DOOMSDAY PREPPER"?...
