It's no secret that E'Town's NIGHT OF THRILLS event is known for its Monster Trucks, Jet Cars, and Wheelstanders... However, it's worth noting that Nostalgia Funny Cars are also becoming a staple of the track's famous NIGHT OF THRILLS event ... Rocky Roxlau and his "TIME BOMB" Vega (w/Bob Toth driving), Dave Sano with his "SCREAMIN' INSANITY" Grand Am, and Rocky Pirrone and his "SCREAMING EAGLE" Firebird all contributed a THRILL to the race this past Saturday evening... In today's blog I report the race results and performance details of these old school drag cars... "The Doc" (Celebrity Drag Racing Authority & Visionary)...

First it was known as "Cantories"... Then later it was known as "Vitalies"... And most recently its been known as "The Race Zone"... The modest brick building that housed the favorite eating and drinking establishment for countless racers and fans from Old Bridge Township Raceway Park has closed its doors... Is it gone forever??... Wait until the old timers going to the E'Town SuperNationals this weekend find the doors locked on the place they always assumed would be open for business!!--- It's gonna hurt!!... I discuss this troubling matter in my alter-ego driven drag racing blog... "The Doc" (Celebrity Drag Racing Authority & Visionary)...

OH NO! Oh what memories of Cantories. I still have the picture of the (JA) Jack Approved Decal on the
silver cash register in my scrapbook on my first visit there in the mid-60's after one of my fuel meets.
It was an E=Town after race party place. However, my visit to the "Red Zone" last year seemed to be
missing something of old. Hoping a new opening of the place will be in the future.
Man, that is like a drag strip closing.
Jack Approved!

Jack, you're right... The place has so much drag racing history (from the "Cantories" and "Vitalies" eras) that it IS practically like having a drag strip close down... I'm aware that with the most recent "Race Zone" metamorphosis of the place, the owners tried to take the establishment in a slightly different direction, and they did sort of "over sterilize" the environment a bit... It's a shame to see it closed, because it used to have such a vibrant life, not to mention the fact that it was a goldmine when it was running on all eight cylinders... I hope someone saves it and opens the doors again!!... I'm really gonna miss it!!... Oh well... In today's blog I discuss a strategy that I believe can LIFT the ambition of our nations kid's and encourage them to be more enthused about going to school... "The Doc" (Celebrity Drag Racing Authority & Visionary)...

Want kids to be excited about getting up in the morning to go to school to better themselves with "HIGHER EDUCATION"?? Want them to get a real LIFT of enthusiasm about studying and gettin' good grades?? Have 'em take this "COOL BUS" of "HIGHER EDUCATION" to school every morning!! That'll do it for 'em!!...

Yesterday I expressed concerns regarding all the folks on the roads this Memorial Day Weekend who are dangerously intoxicated or impaired... Today I boldly address the issue of children and fireworks... Every Memorial Day Weekend countless kids are rushed to the Emergency Room due to firework fun gone horrifically wrong... Spending Memorial Day Weekend in the waiting room of your local hospital, awaiting word from doctors on the status of your kid after being hurt in a horrific firework fiasco is no fun... Celebrate the courage of our nation's heroes without acting like a silly zero... All this in today's blog... "The Doc" (Celebrity Drag Racing Authority & Visionary)...

On this Memorial Day 2012, I offer my usual brand of incisive and "No Bull" style commentary to my many readers, as I honor those who've served our nation while paying the ultimate sacrifice... And I also acknowledge the current and rampant problem of so many of our men and women who are now returning from the middle east with severe cases of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)-- I sympathize with those suffering from this debilitating mental illness and call for their treatment to be considered a most paramount concern... "The Doc" (Celebrity Drag Racing Authority & Visionary)...

Today is "FEEDBACK FRIDAY", meaning I deal with emails I receive from readers regarding my most recent blogs... I received the usual small handful of grief for promoting Courtney Force's appearance on ESPN's SportsNation... On the other hand, my blog expressing my love and Birthday wishes for Carol "Bunny" Burkett resulted in positive emails from her fans... And speaking of bunnies, I'm sorry to report that I won't be able to make qualifying tonight at E'Town's SuperNationals, I realized that I have a prior commitment to show my bronze bunny sculptures at the Junebug Art Fest in Metuchen NJ... Oh well, maybe if there's a nice breeze in the air, I'll be able to hear the nitro cars from E'Town reverberating in the distance... "The Doc" (Celebrity Drag Racing Authority & Visionary)...

Here's a couple of my bronze bunny sculptures. I am scheduled to be showing them this evening at the JuneBug Art Fest in Metuchen, NJ. This prior commitment makes it impossible for me to attend qualifying tonight at E'Town's SuperNationals. Oh well, maybe if there's a cool breeze in the air I'll be able to hear the nitro cars reverberating in the distance...

Yesterday's weather 'round these parts was WEIRD-- Cloudy and looked like it could rain at any minute but it didn't (until later at night when the E'Town track was secured)... And the temps were cool as a cucumber, helping to result in the QUICKEST NITRO PASSES in NHRA HISTORY!!... Massey in his digger and Capps in his flopper crushed the clocks and proved just how hard they and the Raceway Park surface can rock!!... Of course the one qualifying day for the 43rd Annual Toyota SuperNationals that produces this unbelievable history, I had to be at an "Art Fest" with my bronze bunny buddies, oh well, you can't always have your cake and eat it too, but I blog nonetheless and give praise of these startling historic performances... "The Doc" (Celebrity Drag Racing Authority & Visionary)...

Capps set the world on fire with the quickest F/C run of all time (3.96) during Friday night's qualifying... Spencer Massey also rocked the motorsports world by recording the quickest T/F pass of all time (3.72) on Friday night.... However, Capps and Massey's historic performances still didn't guarantee them a spot in Sunday's winner's circle... The Nitro racing and ALL the racing categories were BRUTALLY COMPETITIVE at this past weekend's E'Town SuperNats... I discuss the racing and praise E'Town's Dave Napp and his late dad Vincent Napp for their efforts in creating the Junior Drag Racing phenom... All this and more in today's insightful Drag Racing Underground blog... "The Doc" (Celebrity Drag Racing Authority & Visionary)...
