Robbie, I bought a brand new Mach lll in 1969, I think it was $995.00!!! or that kind of money, you could smoke about anything on the road!! It was the red one with white stripes. What a sound, it would really howl through the air cleaner, never forget that thing. Then the 750 came out and they were slightly faster. That little 350 triple was a little stinker and could outrun all of em in town!!!

hmmm........I certainly ain'y no engineer....but....seems to me....being a V would definitely have its advantages in this case.....the problems that "may" be encountered between the cylinders on the same side of the block "could" be solved by actually having smaller intake ports (so that each stroke would not contaminate the adjacent cylinder).....the exhaust ports could prolly be close to the same as a "normal" v-8...(as far as spacing and diameter is concerned)
Not a clue as to how high the red line would be on that kind of contraption.....would prolly boggle the mind...(but then again...tying my shoes sometimes bogles my mind...that's why I wear slip on's

)

Billy, I can't remember for sure, and I'm not a two stroke authority by any means, but the intake ports would be in the lifter galley, with the exhaust ports in the side of the block, like a single cyl. motorcycle cylinder. I don't think you would have any mixture problems from cyl to cyl, could make a Individual runner intake. Exhaust would make or break it prolly. A head like a flathead ford, just a chamber, flat aluminum plate for a head with a plug hole! ????

Sure would help to have a billet block, no water jackets.

hmmmm....isn't that why God gave us the ability to design a CNC machine????......Billet block.....Yeah, Baby!!!

Hey Hillbilly, I dunno, yeah, some of the Detroits were 2-strokes, I was just trying to build a lightweight V-8 2-stroke in my mind. Jump in here and give me some food for thought. You sound like my kinda engineer,...nuts like me!! Billy, we are not alone!!

why not build a scaled down aluminum version of the detroit, i think a 25:1 compresion 2 stroke 6 banger should be pretty sporty.firing 6 times per cycle, be the equivilent to a 12 cyl 4 strove with way less reciprocating mass, wiiiing........................................now to find some poor sap with a cnc machine and waaaaaay to much time on thier hands..........maybe a little giggle gas.

Holy cow, this could get wayy out of hand quick! Sounds like we better put 1in thick steel in the Dyno room for this one!! I had a Bultaco dirt bike years ago and had the cyl ported, moved the power band up and was real peaky, but ran stronger, if I could stay on it!
