As Promised

Postby Buffjhsn » Sat Oct 21, 2006 1:49 am

ok guys here's the update as i promised. it's 1:30 am so i hope i can remember everything....

ok we decided we were gonna go give it a shot up to norwalk tonight. yes, it's one of the nicest tracks in the country, but man is that place a zoo! it took forever just to get out first pass in.

before we went, we decided to change our rockers and put 1.8's on it. this is what is called for on the cam card and i finally got dad to break down and try it out. this changed the cam from a .773/.773 to a .819/.773 ( we changed intake only).

first pass dad had no line lock. needless to say the burn out was crappy, which we needed a good one tonight. the track was a blistering 60*! well i saw the car spin, he had a .040 reaction time (definatly not like him at all).rest of the run looked like it was good and strait. et comes up.....9.00

man! we just missed it! well i went back to the trailer which was over 1/4 mile away...yeah and it's a test and tune night....and we rigged up a switch for the line lock. we took the hood off and filled it with gas. i suggested we remove the alternator belt to free up some hp, but dad said "nah". off to the staging lanes we went.

when we were waiting, some guy came up to me and said" is that chrome thing supposed to be hanging down?" i looked at him like he was crazy. chrome, we dont run any chrome. after all, everyone knows "chrome won't get ya home". i stuck my head under the car and was stumped. what was the breather cap and pan evac line doing outta the valve cover? oh yeah that's right, i forgot to put it back on :x removed the hood and problem was solved.

so finally it's our turn to run again. man i hope this heap has got it in her. this time we went out and had no problems at all. got a nice clean burnout ,with line lock i might add, and all was good. he went in and staged up. the car hit the tires and looked real good from my point of view. if it spun this pass, i couldn't see it. pass is nice and strait.... 8.96! man was i happy. i made a FOOL outta myself, but you know what, i didn't care!

got back at the trailer and everyone was happy! loaded her up and headed home. here is what she ran:

1.28 60ft
5.678 1/8
121.04 1/8 mph
8.962
148.50

ok now i am beat and am gonna go to bed! hope you guys are all safe and have a great weekend. now i can rest peacefully!

Corey

thanks for the warm comments guys, sorry it took me a week to get back on here.

yeah, that is gonna be our last run of the year. we figured after the rollercoaster ride we took this year we would end it on a good note.

hey vic, the car weighs 2750 with dad in it. how much does your Camaro weigh? i realize we have about the same motor, i am anxious to see what it does on the dyno. i figured up that we put 766 to the ground that pass.

hp=(weight*200)/ET*ET*ET

got the formula outta drag review a couple weeks ago. seems to match up to the power speed calculator pretty good....
