Tell me about your kids...

Here's where we go to kick back after the races with our pals. Pour a tall one, punch a few buttons on the jukebox, and relax...

Tonight my son Nick came in 3rd at the Guitar Center Drum-Off. There were 9 contestants...Nick made a beautiful artistic statement with his time slot. He was by far the best of the teenagers who were there competing, but the judges chose a couple of guys in their late twenties who played jazzy funk to go on to the regionals. It's OK, we were extremely pleased with and proud of Nick for doing what he did...he was completely different than everybody else, he made up his solo on the spot, his drums spoke to the crowd and he played a song on them...he wasn't a bunch of noise, he played music for everybody and they loved him. The guys with more years and experience won, but Nick made his mark tonight. Way to go, Nick! I took pictures of Nick during his solo and included pictures of him with Kyle and one of Debby. That's great. I got to hear Nick practicing daily when I was visiting in August and he was awesome. His drums alone were enough to listen to and I was really getting into the sounds... bp

Sunday night Nick asked me to make a graphic for him. He had to come up with a cereal box ad for a school project. This is what he thought up and here's the graphic I made for him. Cheers, WC1
