Found a couple of side views of both a Vega and a Golf, re-sized them until the wheelbases matched then did an opaque overlay of the Vega on the Golf. As you can see the windshield angle may be the stumbling block when it comes to fitting the Golf body to the Vega rollcage. Looks like the halo bar and the front down tubes might even block the VW's door opening. Also note the ridiculously short rear overhang on the Golf as compared to the Vega.

Some news on the Jegster chassis. I discovered my ladder bar crossmember is NOT welded in the chassis yet and can be mounted almost anywhere within about an 18" range on the rear frame rails. That leaves the whole wheelbase issue wide open for almost any body style.

Had a good day finding parts for my truck. Sprayed a coat of black rock guard on the lower 10", swapped the "welfare wheels" for a freshly repainted set of 1970's rally wheels($80) and found a tool box for $20 on Kijiji. Looks much better now........

Next time I get one of those "hare brained schemes" I will be able to tell Marie who's to blame for it. Thanks a lot John - now I won't sleep for days after seeing that...........
