Well,,
The motor had water in it....
When this deal first started i could tell the guy new nothing
about funny cars and blown motors, he bought the car 2 years
ago then bought the motor 1 yr later and only bolted it in.
Well obviously the car must have sat outside at one point
for a period of time, or he decided to wash the motor ?????
when the car came to me it did not have any valve cover nuts
on it, and when i asked him he said, it did not have them on it
when he got the motor.
So... i can only think, that with all the rain hilo has all the water
came in threw the valve cover, and into the block via valley
area. it does not explain how the water was in #4 cyl though.
heads are solid and so is the block.
the former owner says he will take care of this stupid situation.
The intake, the blower, and the injector hat where not
damaged and still in great condition, other than the fact
it was not a freshend up blower, but the hat is new.....

Ouch! Let me add how much raw lineage of our sport that car represents. Before Wild Wilfred and Lou Gasparelli came along, this car WAS second division funny car on the west coast--and all us fool teenage kids knew it.
You can't screw this up, whatever you paint it. Just keep the profile intact and we'll all provide as much historical reference points for the fans as we can dig up..you know that. Do up an article for Randy's mag, Richard's mag, Flying Phil's next stab at a Northwest mag...oops! Ahead of myself... :P
With Nostalgia going more independent, this sort of project will be easy to garner support and appreciation :!:

Vic, sorry to hear of the engine deal. I'll tell ya, since I am such a nice guy, let me know when to come get the car, I wouldn't waste my time and money on it, you don't want that old funnycar anyway. It's way beyond repair, don't even try bud. You've got my number.
If you think it's exciting now, wait till we start it.

I'm not sure what kind of a contract may have existed on that purchase, but you bought the car with the understanding that the engine was good, I hope. I also hope the previous owner is good for his word on making it right. Sorry that happened, Vic. No doubt it can be fixed for a price, but I don't believe for one second that it was supposed to be in that kind of condition. WC1

Sorry to hear about the motor... sounds like that guy knows as much about maintaining a funny car motor as I do... bp

THanks,...you got that right BP\
TORE THE BOTTOM END OUT OF TODAY, very superficial
even with as ugly as it looks,..wiped right off, no hang
ups spins free.
it has a 4 inch stroke forged crank, brooks #60 rods and
venolia pistons that say 427 in the bottoms of them. it
has splayed 4-bolt mains, dual keyway crank snout.
it will be just fine. the heads need a little extra effort though.
