The Night Shift

Here's where we go to kick back after the races with our pals. Pour a tall one, punch a few buttons on the jukebox, and relax...

Thanks. I fixed up this ad today. I'm gonna print it and make copies and put 'em in music stores and bulletin boards all over town...an ad like this in the Greensheet would cost a thousand bucks, so I'll do a grass-roots campaign...Cheers, WC1

Yes, thank you John The Plumber. What a great thing, man.
I got an email from Cityking Bill today congratulating me that a download of "Follow The Leader" from "Four Lifetimes" was purchased from one of the branch sites that CDBaby.com distributed our CD to. He told me since I wrote "Follow The Leader" that I could have the penny we made off of that sale. I'm gonna frame the penny. Had a practice tonight with the Whiskey Saints, we did fine once we got back in the groove...we hadn't played all together in a month or so. Lanis got real sick but he's OK now, singing as good as ever...he's coming down to the Cock-Eyed Seagull tomorrow night to sing "Stormy Monday" with me and Lynn...the Whiskey Saints will play a full set at my next open mic jam there in 3 weeks. Hopefully the CES will ask us to book a night there...they pay good...also, Akbar, the guy who owns the Shell Station store room we practice in, pulled me aside tonight and told me in about a year he plans to open an advanced Day-Care facility up the street from the station (He owns the building that the College of the Mainland leases, where I teach classes) and he asked me if I'd want to be the director of the Day-Care center and provide a musical program there for the kids. I said I am available for this, just let me know. He saw my school flyer on the Citykings website...I believe in miracles, and I believe something like this could happen. Stuff comes up every day. Possible stuff. Nothing real yet, though. Cheers, WC1

so many hooks in the water, Cat.....one of these days you are gonna land the big one. It may be a bumpy ride until that time comes, but then it will be smooth sailing.....I can just "feel" good things coming your way, my friend. 8)

Cat, I follow your trials and tribulations on this section of the board every time you post something new in anticipation of you hitting it big. God knows you have talents that most of us could only dream of and you work your butt off on a schedule that would kill me and you don't give up. Persistence, Patience, talent, diligence, in the face of adversity! Like the great man said "We shall overcome"... "Cat will overcome". The road may be filled with potholes and stones the size of boulders but with your tenacity what can stop you? Nothing. We have all taken you as our brother here and can't wait to see you get your just rewards. Matter of fact we will be as happy as you when that happens. Just remember that we have you in our prayers and on our mind at all times. DON'T GIVE UP.

No problemo, Doc! And thanks, you guys. I'm having an adventure, ya know. That's what I keep telling myself, anyway...tonight I played my first hosted open-mic jam down on NASA Rd 1 at the Cock-Eyed Seagull. It was an unqualified success, thanks to Lynn showing up and pretty much keeping it all in line for me...that's fine with me, I didn't know these guys and he does...one thing about those open-mic jams is it keeps you sharp. You have to play whatever the guy brings up to the stage. Tonight I played everything from "Make The World Go Away" by Eddy Arnold, to "Nights In White Satin" by the Moody Blues, to "Pictures" by Kid Rock, to "Eight Days A Week" by the Beatles. We held the crowd past happy hour, in fact they danced. Life is good. I'm now booked in there every Thursday night from now on. Got an email from the College; some minister out there wants lessons...I will contact him and give him my new introductory fee: $40 per lesson. Hopefully I can set it up on a Thursday afternoon before I go to the CES for the jam and get paid there, too. One day at a time, little things are starting to fall in place...Cheers, WC1
