I will have to look up all those routes you mentioned. I'm not even familiar with some of them. The traffic is bad everywhere -- there really is no way around it -- but the beltway is worst. But that's rush hour. If you hit town between two and three, you should be fine.
It's not always an hour and a half to get downtown. In fact, if we drive to the metro and go in, it will be more like 45 minutes. But I always provide a little more time in my estimates, just to be sure. We also can drive downtown on Wednesday. I'll be happy to do that (and we'll be together for part of that day, too, I think). bp

Many years ago when Jeff & I went to a trade show in DC (flew in to Baltimore) we were advised to drive to the nearest subway & use that to get around. Worked pretty slick for us. Is that an option BP or is the subway out of our way?

No, I totally agree. That' the 'metro' I'm talking about. it's about 12-13 miles north of the hotel on route 5 (same road). We can get just about anywhere on that thing. It also has a Union Station stop, so it would be perfect to hop on and head down to the Thursday dinner (or anything on Wednesday, too). I can come along on Wednesday to get folks up to speed on it. bp

Fantastic. I'll be joining you for part of the day at least on Wednesday. Makes sense to stay there if you are there, I think (if it works for you). There are lots of happy hour places! LOL. bp

So BP, you said something about you could possibly drive on Wednesday night for a night tour, maybe some of us who will be there before Thursday could do that with you? And how many people can you haul around? Since we're getting the hop on/hop off trolley for Thursday, it might work better to do the night thing on Wednesday for us early arrivers. I want to try to fit as many places in as possible on Thursday and I think the last trolley pick up is 5 pm and I'm hoping Daryl won't poop out on me before then! But I don't know if he can handle going back out again that evening to do more sight seeing....he's almost as old as that Gorilla.

I'm with Gorilli, I think all day on the hop-on hop-off trolly Thursday, day time tour will be plenty. (20 stps)
I like crafty's idea about the nite tour Wed . evening with BP, instead of a tour bus.
I'll have room 2 people.

I like the idea of nightly potluck dinners at the Pratt's homestead. That way we'll have more time to socialize and not have to worry about freein up our tables.
Can't wait to see everyone!

O.K. Not to be redundant, but now that it's the 11th hour, how about a final roll call. Is Pappy still planning to make an appearance?
Can we do a copy & paste & build a final list, just so we know how large our caravan will be?
I can kick it off with....
Gary, Cheryl, Jeff - arriving late Tuseday evening.
